Virginia Democrats Announce Plans to Restore Gun Rights… to Convicted Murderers

Virginia Democrats have finally found a group they DO want to give more gun rights to and apparently they are convicted murderers

Published

on

Well, it looks like Virginia Democrats have finally found a group they DO want to give more gun rights to and apparently that group is convicted murderers!

Virginia Democrats are busily trying to take away gun rights from as many classes of law-abiding Virginians as they can. One law, for instance is SB 240, the state Democrat’s new “red flag” law. The law would allow police to instantly take away a citizen’s guns if but one person complains that the targeted citizen “might” be “a danger” to themselves or those around them.

One might assume that at some level the definition of “a danger” just might include a criminal record.

Well, you would be wrong, at least in the case of one class of criminals to whom Democrats want to ignore a criminal record and restore gun rights.

Shockingly, state Democrats want to reinstate the gun rights of convicted murderers who are under the age of 17.

As The Blaze reported:

Virginia attorney Hans Bader warns that prominent Democrats in both houses of the legislature are supporting HB 274, a bill that raises the age for when a juvenile criminal conviction triggers a ban on that individual owning or transporting firearms.

Under current Virginia law, juveniles may be tried as adults for violent offenses beginning at age 14. This bill will would raise the age to 16. In addition, under current law (§18.2-308.2(A)), it is prohibited for “any person adjudicated delinquent as a juvenile 14 years of age or older at the time of the offense of murder in violation of § 18.2-31 or 18.2-32, kidnapping in violation of § 18.2-47, robbery by the threat or presentation of firearms in violation of § 18.2-58, or rape in violation of § 18.2-61 … to knowingly and intentionally possess or transport any firearm or ammunition for a firearm.”

This bill would change the age threshold from 14 to 16, meaning that anyone convicted of a violent murder under the age of 16 would still be able to legally possess a firearm.

In other words, teens who have already used guns in violent crimes would be allowed to keep their firearms as far as Virginia Democrats are concerned.

So, let’s recap. In Virginia, Democrats want laws that say:

Adults who were not convicted of anything can have their Second Amendment rights summarily eliminated without a trial under the Democrat Red Flag law.

But…

Teenagers who have already used guns to kill someone will be allowed to keep their guns.

Once again, we see that Democrats are the most dangerous element in American society.

Smith & Wesson Ramps Up Production as Americans Make a Run on New Guns

Americans are buying guns in record breaking numbers and the once failing Smith & Wesson gunmaker is reaping the rewards.

Published

Americans are buying guns in record breaking numbers and the once failing Smith & Wesson gunmaker is reaping the rewards as it ramps up production to meet the massive demand.

In a company conference call, Smith & Wesson announced that it is now at “maximum capacity” to meet demand.

“As we’ve seen before during these surge periods, these results reflect that despite our record numbers in market share growth, consumer demand for our products during the quarter still exceeded our internal manufacturing capacity levels,” said Mark Smith CEO said last week. “We’re continuing to ramp up…. We’re going to go to maximum capacity.”

S&W said it had shipped 600,000 firearms between May and June.

“When we get into these surge environments like this, and as you can see from the [gun background check numbers] we’ve never seen one quite this high, the demand in the industry just outstrips the industry’s ability to supply,” Smith said. “And we’re no different. You can look at the inventory numbers from us and from some of the other firearms, retailers, and manufacturers, and I think we’re just out of inventory.”

Ramping up manufacturing is key to holding the line on gun prices. If manufacturers can’t meet demand, prices will rise quickly.

Just last year, Smith & Wesson was finding trouble in bankruptcy court after losing a round in court as it tried to stave off its creditors.

However, this year, gun stocks have been soaring as more and more Americans rush to gun stores.

According to The Hill, gun sales are at record highs.

“The new figures show that more than 3.63 million firearm background checks were carried out by the agency last month, a number CNN reports is the third highest on record,” the paper reported.

In Surprise Move, California Court Rules State’s Gun Magazine Ban is Unconstitutional

On Friday a California-based federal appeals court overturned the state’s ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines saying it violates the Second Amendment.

Published

on

On Friday a California-based federal appeals court overturned the state’s ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines on the grounds that the ban violates the Second Amendment.

“Even well-intentioned laws must pass constitutional muster,” Appellate Judge Kenneth Lee wrote for the majority on the three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the Associated Press reported. The judge added that California’s ban “strikes at the core of the Second Amendment — the right to armed self-defense.”

The state’s law banned firearm magazines that could hold more than ten bullets. But Lee added in his ruling that the law as “so sweeping that half of all magazines in America are now unlawful to own in California.”

Of the three-judge panel, two voted to dump the state’s ban.

California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s office said it will review the decision to see where to go from this point.

“Until further proceedings in the courts, the stay on the injunction issued by the district court remains in place,” the AG’s office said in a statement. “The Attorney General remains committed to using every tool possible to defend California’s gun safety laws and keep our communities safe.”

It seems likely that the state will demand that the ruling be taken up by the entire 11-judge court. If California loses after that effort, the only other move is to take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Naturally, gun rights groups were ecstatic over the victory.

California Rifle & Pistol Association attorney Chuck Michel said the ruling was “a huge victory” for “the right to choose to own a firearm to defend your family.”

Michael added that the state should heed the decision and drop any hope of taking the case to the nation’s highest.

“The Supreme Court seems inclined to do away with the complicated subjective tests that many courts have wrongly applied in Second Amendment cases, in favor of a clearer more objective ‘originalist’ approach that considers the text, history and tradition of a law to determine what infringements might be tolerated,” Michel said in an email sent to San Francisco’s CBS affiliate.

Democrats are Adding Massive Gun Control Measures to Chinese Virus Stimulus

The Democrats are looking for a bait-and-switch with their COVID-19 stimulus bill by adding massive gun control measures to it.

Published

on

The Democrats are looking for a bait-and-switch with their COVID-19 stimulus bill by adding massive gun control measures to it in the hopes that Trump will veto it just ahead of the election.

Democrats are also trying a hail Mary on the measures. After all, the GOP won’t go for the gun control, but if by some crazy chance they do, well, it’s a win-win for the Dems. A veto of COVID stimulus just ahead of the election would make Trump look bad, but if it got passed, they would have a whole raft of the draconian gun laws that they have been wanting.

Either way, it is an un-American effort.

In any case, the warning bell was rung by the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) that reported on the measures. And, worse, some feckless Republicans are also backing the measures.

As the NAGR told its supporters:

Now that Congress is back from recess, the calls for more COVID-19 relief are deafening.

While your grassroots pressure forced Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to denounce all calls for another stimulus deal, he has since flip-flopped his stance.

Now, McConnell is considering many different packages to send to President Trump.

So make no mistake, the Gun Control Lobby is eyeing this as another opportunity to ram through gun control.

Unfortunately, Senate Republicans are looking to make a compromise, and it may include our gun rights.

President Trump has been pressing for payroll tax cuts in the next stimulus package.

That means if any sort of gun control is wrapped into this legislation, many Senate Republicans may jump ship to sneak through a gun control scheme.

The anti-gun Leftists are licking their chops to slip-in:

*** “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation

“Red Flag” Gun Confiscation allows a disgruntled neighbor or ex-spouse to file a complaint against you, allowing SWAT teams to raid your home and confiscate your firearms.

Worse yet, you can’t even defend yourself in court if an order is filed against you!

*** VAWA

There have also been rumors of a reauthorization of the so-called Violence Against Women Act being added in.

The current version of VAWA would actually strip tens of thousands of law-abiding women and men of their right to possess a firearm, based off decades-old complaints from ex-dating partners, without due process.

It is “Red Flag” Gun Confiscation with a more palatable name.

However, these are only two examples of the gun control being discussed amongst the gun grabbers.

That’s why we need to send a message on Capitol Hill.

NAGR invites pro-gun patriots to sign its petition here.

July’s Gun Sales Smashed All Records

America is going through unsettling times and gun sales have soared accordingly. Indeed, July has seen more sales than any July ever.

Published

America is going through unsettling times and gun sales have soared accordingly. Indeed, July has seen more sales than any July ever.

July 2020 brought an estimated 1,795,602 gun sales, which is 133 percent higher than last July’s tally.

Even more to the point, July is the fifth month in a row to set a gun-sales record.

Per the Washington Free Beacon:

Chris Killoy, chief executive officer of Sturm, Ruger & Company, said the current spike in sales is unlike anything he has ever seen. The buying spree shows no signs of slowing down and heavy demand will “sustain itself” into the fall, Killoy predicted.

“Having been in this industry for 30 years, I saw the surge in 1994 before the assault weapons ban took place,” Killoy told investors on Thursday. “This is probably the strongest level of demand that I’ve seen. One of the most significant differences is how it has impacted all levels of the channel and the impact on inventory at all levels.”

With the insecurity over the coronavirus, not to mention the explosion of Black Lives Matter terrorism occurring across the nation, new gun buyers and old are flocking to gun stores.

The FBI notes an important metric in that of the 10 million guns sold, many have gone to first-time buyers and minorities.

2020 has soared past 2016 as a gun sales leader, and we still have four more months to go!

Sturm, Ruger & Company announced in its quarterly earnings call on Thursday that net sales had moved from $210,367,000 in the first six months of 2019 to $253,903,000 during the same period in 2020. That equated to diluted earnings per share of $1.06 in 2020 compared with $.36 in 2019—a threefold increase.

Smith & Wesson Brands Inc. reported a similar profit jump in June. Net sales for the company jumped 32.9 percent from $175.7 million in the fourth quarter of 2019 to $233.6 million in 2020.

“Strong consumer demand for firearms, as reflected by adjusted National Instant Criminal Background Check System (‘NICS’) results, combined with a consumer preference for our innovative products, helped us deliver growth and market share gains in our firearms business in fiscal 2020,” Mark Smith, co-president and co-CEO of Smith & Wesson, said in the company’s earnings report.

One can hardly be surprised by all this.

Gun Background Checks Hit Record High, Guns Sales Soar as Black Lives Matter Riots Grow

Background checks for newly purchased guns have soared to a high of 3.9 million in June, meaning gun sales have skyrocketed.

Published

on

Background checks for newly purchased guns have soared to a high of 3.9 million in June, meaning gun sales have skyrocketed.

June’s numbers are the most that the FBI has ever recorded since the background check system first went online in 1998.

The requests are up 136 percent of June of last year.

Per Fox News:

More than 19 million checks — a key barometer for gun sales — were conducted in the first half of 2020, more than all of 2012 and many years prior. Gun sales usually see an uptick in presidential election years over fears an incoming president could restrict access to firearms.

Gun sales soared in March as governments across the United States began issuing stay-at-home orders and other unprecedented lockdown measures as the coronavirus took a grip across the country.

“Civil unrest, rioting, looting and calls to defund police are unquestionably motivating factors of why this trend is increasing. Americans are right to be concerned for their personal safety,” Mark Oliva, director of public affairs for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, which represents gunmakers, told Fox.

According to the numbers 40 percent of those buying guns are first-time buyers.

Gun sales have been increasing all year.

Per Guns and America:

Georgia State University Law Professor Timothy Lytton studies gun violence and says gun sales are likely being driven by two very different worries. Some people are concerned about heavy-handed government during a crisis and others are worried government services, like police, won’t be able to reach them.

And he doesn’t see the trend in sales going away.

“I think the current civil unrest is likely to stoke both of those fears even further and that we’re likely to see increased sales of firearms continuing on through the summer,” Lytton said.

Realize one thing, here. This means a lot of women AND liberals are buying guns, too!

Heavily-Armed Italians Guard Family Bakery (Video)

A heavily-armed Italian family stopped looters from burning down Corbo’s Bakery in Cleveland, Ohio.

Mrs. Corbo telling reporters the rioters came at the family with rocks and baseball bats – said they had no choice but to protect their business.

“They came at us with bats, threw rocks and stones and I was like, alright,” co-owner Selena Corbo told Cleveland19.com.

After protesters tried to force their way inside with bats and other weapons, owner Joe Corbo and his two sons armed themselves with guns and told the rioters that they would not allow them inside the bakery, Fox 8 reported.

“We don’t want any trouble, we don’t want you guys in here damaging our property, we’re just protecting our business and truthfully, I would say maybe 80% of them understood and left us alone,” one of the owners told the television station.

Petition Opposing Canada’s Latest Gun Ban Become Biggest in Country’s History

A petition demanding Justin Trudeau’s latest ban of more than 1,500 guns has become the biggest petition in Canadian history.

Published

on

A petition demanding Justin Trudeau’s latest ban of more than 1,500 guns has become the biggest petition in Canadian history.

Petition e-2574 that demands that Trudeau’s government reverse its wide-ranging gun ban has already garnered more than 180,000 signatures, according to The Post Millennial.

E-2574 was begun on May 5, but in only a week it exploded across the nation. The petition closes on September 2, 2020.

The petition calls for an end to the Order in Council that took place on May 1, 2020. It also calls for the legislature to replace it with laws that targets criminals instead of law-abiding gun owners.

Canada’s gun owners insist that they have a right to own guns for self-protection.

The petition makes a number of points about Trudeau’s extensive gun ban.

1). The Prime Minister’s firearms confiscation regime, undemocratically imposed without debate during a pandemic while Parliament is suspended, is an assault on Canadian democracy;

2). Canada already has stringent regulations and comprehensive legislation related to firearms ownership;

3). Canada has millions of responsible, law-abiding firearms owners;

4). Data shows that the confiscation regime would not stop firearms violence in Canada;
5). The majority of firearms used in violent crimes are obtained illegally and/or are smuggled into Canada;

6). Legal firearms owners are strong advocates for measures that will actually prevent firearms violence;

7). Legal firearms owners in Canada are vetted on a daily basis through the CPIC system;

8). The Prime Minister is using the emotion of the tragedy in Nova Scotia to impose this confiscation regime even though all of the firearms the murderer used were illegally obtained;

9). The list of firearms to be confiscated is arbitrary and not based on functionality;

10). “Assault rifles”, or fully automatic firearms, have been banned in Canada since 1977;

11). Criminals who have illegally obtained firearms will not be impacted by this confiscation regime; and

12). The federal government is abandoning evidenced-based decision making as it relates to preventing firearm violence.
