Those Who Think Senator Tom Cotton Is a Traitor Are a Cancer on Society

Published

on

Edith Sitwell said: “I am patient with stupidity, but not with those who are proud of it.” I, on the other hand, am not patient with stupidity in any form—specifically when it comes to politics.
Stupidity is ignorance intensified, and it has proven more dangerous to politics than any other force combined. Neither cunning, nor lies, nor laziness, nor power-hunger can bring to the political process as much destructive force as sheer stupidity.
On March 9th, Republican Senator Tom Cotton — Iraq war veteran, and Harvard Law graduate — authored an open letter to the leaders of Iran, explaining to them the limitations of any agreement they may make with President Obama regarding nuclear weapons. 46 other Republican Senators co-signed this open letter.
The letter, which can be read here, essentially states that any deal made with Iran must be approved by the Senate, otherwise it will not be accepted by the Senate, nor will it be official. Being unofficial, such a deal could be later revoked by Congress, or the next sitting President.
This is all true, mind you. Damian Paletta explained for The Wall Street Journal in a piece titled: “Treaties vs. Executive Agreements: When Does Congress Get a Vote?” that “Treaties are binding,” but “require approval by the U.S. Senate.”

“That is one reason why presidents in recent decades have opted for executive agreements, which typically don’t require congressional input. But they carry a major drawback: they can be reversed by the next president.”

Paletta also explains that, according to Robert Einhorn of The Brookings Institute, Obama could try to skirt Senate approval by striking an “executive agreement.” But even then, if the President is attempting to appease Iran by lightening sanctions—which it appears as though he’s doing–it would stillrequire Congressional approval, because according to Einhorn:

“The agreement will provide for the eventual removal of sanctions, and that can only be done by the Congress…So the Congress will get a vote, but it will be down the road.”

So, as Senator Tom Cotton (Harvard Law) has repeated multiple times, the President does not have the power to make the legacy-deal he is attempting to negotiate.
However, the left has gone ballistic over this letter, so much so that they have stirred up a notion that the 47 Senators who signed the letter are behaving treasonously. Yes, a narrative has evolved in which the Republicans are traitors, who out of simple hatred of Obama, are out to help Iran. The front page of The Daily News even showed photos of Senators Cotton and Cruz, with the word “TRAITORS” in all caps.
The hashtag #47Traitors was even trending on Twitter yesterday. This is no joke–though it should be, because those participating in it have no idea the volume of their own stupidity. I’ll share but one example of the insanity:
https://twitter.com/redsteeze/status/575798925455683584
Now, all this “traitors” talk has infected the stupid masses who like to start whitehouse.gov petitions. A new petition is demanding that the 47 Republican Senators who signed the letter be brought up on charges:

“…forty-seven United States Senators committed a treasonous offense when they decided to violate the Logan Act, a 1799 law which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. Violation of the Logan Act is a felony, punishable under federal law with imprisonment of up to three years.”

Yes, the petition, authored by anonymous intellectual giant C. H. of New Jersey, has over 206,000 signatures as of today.
The Logan Act deems possibly treasonous negotiation with foreign governments by “citizens” who are “without authority of the United States!” C. H. even uses an approximation of those words in the petition (unauthorized citizen)! The United States Senate does not even remotely fall under the umbrella of those “without authority of the United States!” They are part of the authority! It’s almost as if intellectual giant C. H. simply tried to find an old law that dealt with treason, and called it a day.
Did he even bother to understand the Logan Act as he summarized it from Wikipedia at 2am while drinking a 20-pack of Budweiser in his mother’s basement, or did he just see the words “without authority” and “citizen,” then black out from sheer orgasmic liberal passion?
George Washington University Constitutional Law professor Jerome Barron (who, for his part, calls the open letter “disrespectful”) told ABC News “I don’t think they’re [the 47 Republican Senators] in violation of the Logan Act.”
It doesn’t take a law professor to see that, but thanks to ABC News for clearing that up.
But here’s the thing, at least 200,000 people are stupid enough to believe that these 47 Republican Senators can be tried for treason because of the Logan Act–even when the Act (and the petition itself!) says “citizens…without authority of the United States.” At least 200,000 people believe that the members of the United States Senate are “without authority of the United States!”
It is absolutely terrifying to see stupidity like this trending on social media and gaining hundreds of thousands of signatures in just days. These people are part of our electorate. They go out and vote like the rest of us. It’s like watching cancer consume your body as the chemo does nothing.
This #47Traitors BS is a snapshot of the cancer that is devouring our nation. The scariest part is: I don’t know how long we have left.

Democrats Warned They Could Face ‘Civil War’ If Sanders Gets Sabotaged

Published

on

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel warns that Democrats could face ‘civil war’ if Bernie Sanders gets sabotaged again.

I just love seeing these Democrats come unglued every day! The DNC created this monster when they set up Bernie Sanders to lose against Hillary Clinton in the 2016 primary. What a pathetic bunch of people who call themselves leaders.

Fox News:

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel warned at the Conservative Political Action conference Thursday that Democrats will face a “civil war” should the party try to sabotage front-runner Bernie Sanders for the nomination.

McDaniel was asked during a CPAC panel Thursday what would happen if the Democratic Party attempted to take the Democratic nomination away from Sanders, I-Vt.

“I don’t know how they can do it without creating a civil war in their party,” she said, adding, “But boy, isn’t it fun to watch?”

McDaniel’s comments come as Sanders, a self-described Democratic socialist, is leading the Democratic presidential primary field, sounding alarms inside the party with rival candidates and party elders.

Critics have claimed that a Sanders nomination would pave the way for President Trump’s reelection and potentially hurt Democrats’ chances of maintaining the majority in the House or taking the majority in the Senate.

Thus far, Sanders essentially tied for the win in the Iowa caucuses, claimed victory in New Hampshire and notched a massive win in the Nevada caucuses last weekend, driving home the reality that his rivals will have diminishing chances to halt that momentum. More

Democrats made a huge mistake. Instead of partnering on issues and initiatives where they could solve problems for the country and passing laws that get things done, they have been focused on hating a duly-elected President and trying everything they can to get rid of him.

That is not lost on voters. So now they have nothing to run on, no accomplishments to claim and certainly no candidates that are electable just left trying to out-socialist all the other candidates.

Eight Mississippi Democrats Switch to Republican in One Big Event

The Mississippi Republican Party welcomed a group of new members Wednesday when eight Democrats decided to switch parties.

Published

The Mississippi Republican Party welcomed a group of new members Wednesday when eight Democrats decided to switch parties and joining the winning team.

The Mississippi GOP announced that the eight newly minted Republicans were elected just last cycle as either Democrats or independents, according to WLBT.

“We have had a relentless focus on switching conservative Democrats over to the Republican party,” said MSGOP Chairman Lucien Smith. “They recognize increasingly that there is only one party that represents the conservative values of our state and that is the Republican party.”

The party jumpers were from Smith and Covington counties. One of the jumpers was a District Attorney from the area.

“We are in a scenario in this country where you can choose to be a member of the party led by Donald J. Trump or you can choose to be a member of the socialist Democratic party led by Bernie Sanders,” Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves said.

Millsaps Department of Government and Politics chair Dr. Nathan Shrader noted that the GOP has been growing by leaps and bounds in the state.

“They have a plausible argument to make with these elected officials that your constituent are already aligning with us, the voting patterns in your district are moving in our direction, you should join the team too,” Shrader added.

“There are conservatives Democrats all across the state of Mississippi and there was once upon a time when the conservative Democrats controlled this state,” said 13th Circuit Court District Attorney Matt Sullivan, one of those jumping into the GOP. “It’s a new day in Mississippi and I believe the Republican party is growing and there’s a place in the Republican party for people like me.”

The Mississippi GOP announced the following new members:

Matt Sullivan, District Attorney for the Thirteenth Circuit Court District (Covington, Jasper, Simpson and Smith Counties), (Former Democrat)

Covington County
Guy Easterling, Chancery Clerk (Former Independent)
Bobby Wayne Mooney, Justice Court Judge for the Northern District of Covington County (Former Independent)

Smith County
Cindy Austin, Chancery Clerk (Former Democrat)
Anthony Grayson, Circuit Clerk (Former Democrat)
Mary Lou Powell, Tax Assessor-Collector (Former Democrat)
Danny Arender, Beat 4 Supervisor (Former Democrat)
Hulon West, Justice Court Judge for the Southern District of Smith County (Former Democrat)

Roger Stone’s Request for a New Trial Will Indeed Be Heard by a Judge

Maybe that Presidential pardon won’t be necessary after all.

Published

on

While we may be several months removed from the apparent end of the RussiaGate investigation, we are far from providing closure for everyone involved.

Roger Stone, who was convicted of lying to Congress during the Robert Mueller-led probe into a conspiracy theory involving the Kremlin and the Trump campaign, is currently set to serve 40-some months in jail for his crime.  This sentence was announced just days after President Trump publicly dissed the original sentencing structure that would have allowed for the judge in the case to sentence Stone to up to nine years in prison.

But Stone will not be going quietly into the night, which isn’t all that surprising if you know anything about Roger Stone.

A judge has scheduled a pair of hearings for Tuesday in longtime Trump adviser Roger Stone’s criminal case, as she considers how to resolve a motion Stone’s defense filed seeking a new trial based on alleged misconduct by one of the jurors in his case.

U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson, who sentenced Stone last week to more than three years in prison for impeding official investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential race, said in a brief order Monday that she plans to take up the juror-focused motion behind closed doors in her Washington courtroom at 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

The court has kept the details of Stone’s motion under wraps since it was filed more than a week ago, but Jackson’s order Monday revealed that Stone’s defense recently moved to open the related court filings and any planned hearing to the public.

The issue revolves around a jury foreperson who posted her beliefs on the case to Facebook in the midst of the trial, demonstrating certain biases in doing so.

Hillary Clinton Has Startling New Warning About Donald Trump

The assertion is simply laughable.

Published

on

Of all of the Democratic deities that the liberal left has burned through as of late, none has left as sour a taste in the mouth of the progressive masses as Hillary Clinton.

The former First Lady’s uncouth collusion with the DNC during the 2016 primary ultimately cost the Democrats the election, as Bernie Sanders’ supporter abandoned the party en masse after the corruption was revealed.

Clinton was oblivious to this, of course, and was still certain that she’d be waltzing into the White House come January of 2017.  The former Secretary of State hadn’t even written a concession speech…that’s how sure she was.

Now, three years into the Trump administration’s first term, Clinton has consistently refused to recognize that she’s overstayed her welcome, and has constantly interjected herself into the 2020 election.

Her latest appearance comes complete with a stark warning about President Donald Trump.

She made those remarks when being questioned by journalists on the red carpet for the Berlin film festival.

Clinton said, “I will support the nominee of our party because I think that our current president is a clear and present danger to democracy and to our future.”

The “clear and present danger” line is a popularized piece of pop culture that has often signified the ultimate in geopolitical trouble, and Clinton’s peddling of the phrase is an indication of her desperation.

Russia Hoax Returns! Lawmakers Briefed on New Russian Meddling Scheme

It’s only a matter of time before the Democrats find a way to accuse President Trump of more ‘collusion’.

Published

on

For much of President Trump’s first term, there was a specter looming over the White House.

The left was consistently insisting that Donald Trump’s election came only at the behest of the Kremlin, thanks to a Putin-led effort to meddle in America’s electoral system and – most heinously – the newly-elected President himself was being accused of colluding with the evil empire to our east.

At the end of a 22-month long investigation that cost upward of $25 million, President Trump would face no charges himself, and those who did stumble during the RussiaGate investigation did so not because of their cooperation with some Kremlin comrades, but due to their own issues with telling the truth to investigators

Yet, this boogeyman remained under the proverbial bed, ready to jump out and scare the Democrats again in 2020.

And, predictably, it has begun

Intelligence officials have warned lawmakers that Russia is interfering in the 2020 election campaign to help President Donald Trump get reelected, according to three officials familiar with the closed-door briefing.

Trump pushed back Friday accusing Democrats of launching a disinformation campaign.

“Another misinformation campaign is being launched by Democrats in Congress saying that Russia prefers me to any of the Do Nothing Democrat candidates who still have been unable to, after two weeks, count their votes in Iowa. Hoax number 7!” Trump tweeted.

The officials, who asked for anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence, said Thursday that the briefing last week focused on Russia’s efforts to influence the 2020 election and sow discord in the American electorate. The intelligence warning was first reported by The New York Times and The Washington Post.

In this iteration of the hysteria, there has yet to be any sort of insinuation regarding nefarious dealings by the President and his men.

But, knowing the Democrats, there is sure to be some form of allegation emerging in the coming days.

Multiple States Now Targeted by Secessionists as Nation Remains Divided

Are we experiencing some 16 decade deja vu?

Published

on

Our nation has been hotly divided for years, and the recent impeachment scandal surrounding Donald Trump may have only made things worse.

For some, this was a failed removal of a soon-to-be tyrant, hellbent on sending our culture back to the 1950’s.  For others, Trump’s acquittal was the welcome end to a long national nightmare.  The wedge between these two, disparate sides has been hammered into place by the mainstream media, further splitting us right down the center.

This isn’t the first time that something like this has happened in America, of course, and our last bout of infighting resulted in the secession of several states and a prolonged and bloody war over it.

Well, don’t look now, but it appears as though we’re at it again.

You’ve got Oregonians seeking to cascade into Idaho, Virginians who identify as West Virginians, Illinoians fighting to escape Chicago, Californians dreaming of starting a 51st state, and New Yorkers who think three states are better than one.

Separation fever is sweeping the nation as quixotic but tenacious bands of frustrated rural dwellers, suburbanites and conservatives seek to break free from states with legislatures increasingly controlled by liberal big cities and metropolitan strongholds.

“Oregon is controlled by the northwest portion of the state, Portland to Eugene. That’s urban land, and their decisions are not really representing rural Oregon,” said Mike McCarter, president of Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho. “They have their agenda and they’re moving forward with it, and they’re not listening to us.”

And then there are the coastal conflicts.

In New York, Divide New York State has for years championed the idea of three autonomous self-governing regions, eliminating the need for Congress to create separate states. More ambitious is New California, which seeks to create a 51st state, and Calexit, which wants to make California its own nation.

There is little chance that many, if any, of these potential spin-offs come to fruition however, as the stigma surrounding secession is simply far too damning to escape.

Roger Stone Sentence Belies True Power of President’s Tweets

The left should take this turn of events as an ominous warning not to ignore Trump’s Twitter tirades.

Published

on

There has been a great deal of consternation in Washington this week over the nature of President Trump’s tweets.

He is, after all, the first Commander in Chief to truly utilize the platform for both campaigning and for policy discussion, opening a pathway from the public to the Oval Office that previously did not exist.

But, as with all things Trump, this has not always been a well received change to the status quo, including recently when Trump’s tweets on the subject of political provocateur Roger Stone’s looming sentencing created a headache for Attorney General Bill Barr over at the Department of Justice.

Trump believed that the possible sentence of up to nine years behind bars was far too heavy for Stone, who was convicted of lying to Congress during the long and convoluted RussiaGate conspiracy theory investigation.

Today, as Stone was saddled with only a 44-month lockup, it became apparent that Trump’s tweets are indeed quite powerful.

U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson, while taking a firm stance toward Stone in the courtroom, also said the up to nine years originally sought by federal prosecutors was excessive. Her sentence of 40 months in prison was considerably less than that — yet far more than the probation sought by his defense and certainly tough enough to keep speculation alive about a possible pardon from President Trump.

In court, Jackson repeatedly made clear she holds Stone responsible for his circumstances, as his lawyers sought leniency.

“Mr. Stone lied,” Jackson said. She also said Stone injected himself “smack” into a political controversy and was not “persecuted.”

Jackson called Stone’s actions “deliberate” and “planned” – lamenting his “utter disrespect” for the rule of law – but also noted supporters sent “compelling” letters to the court and described him as “caring and generous.”

It has been widely spectacled that Stone could soon receive a presidential pardon – a possibility hinted at by Trump himself with the retweeting of a Tucker Carlson piece supporting the idea.
