The Media Is Generally Ignoring the Other Story Out of Charlottesville

Published

on

By Jerry Newcombe, D.Min.

The one-year anniversary of the melee in Charlottesville, Virginia came and went recently. A poll found that most Americans feel that race relations in this country have worsened. Writing for cbsnews.com (8/12/18), Anthony Salvanto pens, “One year after the deadly rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, most Americans feel racial tensions have grown over the past year.”

Indeed, on the first anniversary of the melee, even an NBC news reporter and crew got attacked by Antifa in Charlottesville. Newsbusters of the Media Research Center reports (8/12/18): “Late Saturday night, NBC News reporter Cal Perry and his crew were in the thick of it as Antifa members ganged up on them and attacked. The next morning, NBC’s Sunday Today ignored the attack and suggested the media was simply ‘heckled’ by their assaulters.” Apparently this was not an isolated incident of violence by Antifa, et al.

Meanwhile, there’s another side to Charlottesville that I wish would get the same kind of attention as did the negative events. The media generally ignores this story.

Christian leaders in Charlottesville, black and white, have organized a series of measures, including bi-racial prayer services, to bring about healing for the city. This included a prayer walk around the city with a black minister (Rev. Alvin Edwards) and a white minister (Rev. Mark Beliles) holding hands. Bishop Harry Jackson spoke at that event late last year. Their website, Healing4Charlottesville.com, documents the various steps churches are taking for racial healing in that city.

I’ve written about this before, but what I found to be the most significant aspect of Healing 4 Charlottesville has been the fact that more people from that city participated in the Christian prayer services on December 1 and 2 than people from Charlottesville participated in the big brawl on August 12. Meanwhile, over this last weekend, they had additional Healing4Charlottesville prayer events.

One of those who helped Dr. Mark Beliles to coordinate these series of services is Rev. Travis Witt, whom I interviewed recently.

Witt told me, “Like so many things, [racial healing] can be slow. It can be tedious. It can be frustrating. But there’s movement in a good direction in Charlottesville.”

And he added, “I believe the world is quickly running out of answers to the problems we face in our nation. And here is a grand opportunity for the church to stand up and share….Bringing black pastors and white pastors together, under the banner of Christ, is really about racial healing….There are some wonderful things that are happening in Charlottesville.”

Two of the speakers in the Christian service for Healing 4 Charlottesville were the descendants of a slave-owning family (Matt Lockett) and of a slave family (Will Ford) “owned” by the Lockets.

Healing4Charlottsville.com notes: “Their stories are linked together. Ford’s ancestors were Locketts deriving their name from the family in Virginia that enslaved them until the last major Civil War battle happened on their farm, three days before the surrender of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. Ford is the director of Christ for the Nations Institute (Dallas) and Lockett is the director of Justice House of Prayer (Washington).” Witt says that Lockett and Ford met at a pro-life event in Washington, DC about a decade ago and learned of their historical ties and of their common bond in Christ. Only Jesus can bring about this kind of unity.

Meanwhile, there was one pro-Christian story about Charlottesville that did make it to the evening news. Ken Parker of Jacksonville, Florida, attended last year’s rally in Charlottesville so that he could “stand up for my white race.” He had been involved with the KKK and an American neo-Nazi group for six years.

But a few months after Charlottesville, Parker met a black pastor, William McKinnon III, who eventually led him to Christ. McKinnon baptized Parker in the Atlantic Ocean on July 21.

Parker even apologized in McKinnon’s church: “I said I was a grand dragon of the KKK, and then the Klan wasn’t hateful enough for me, so I decided to become a Nazi—and a lot of them, their jaws about hit the floor and their eyes got real big…But after the service, not a single one of them had anything negative to say. They’re all coming up and hugging me and shaking my hand, you know, building me up instead of tearing me down.”

Jesus is the key to America solving its racial divide. As Georgia pastor Garland Hunt put it: “God’s solution for a divided nation is a united church.” If only that message could get on the evening news (more often).

FIGHTIN’ WORDS: Mike Pence Lays Down the Law Regarding Online Censorship

There are only a few scant months left before Americans head back to the polls, and every little bit counts.

Published

on

With the 2020 presidential election just around the corner, everybody’s trying to grab hold of any little politic advantage that they can.  You see, in this wildly vitriolic new American landscape, every little vote really does count – just ask Hillary Clinton about Wisconsin if you need proof.

Of course, nowhere will you find an easier time reaching these individual voters than online – particularly on social media where amateur politicos will give you opinions that you never even asked for, 24/7, 365, and twice on Sundays.

This abundance of influence has led a number of the world’s most prominent big-tech companies to begin cracking down on political content that doesn’t suit the views of their leadership – regardless of what the views of their user base truly is.

Vice President Mike Pence has had enough of it.

Asked during an exclusive interview on Friday about big tech companies like Twitter, Facebook, Google, and others downplaying conservative voices, Pence said that President Donald Trump has “made it very clear” this type of behavior is unacceptable. Pence’s interview aired on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel.

“Well, the president has made it very clear that we are not going to tolerate censorship on the Internet and social media against conservatives,” Pence said. “We’re just not going to tolerate it.”

It appears as though the entire White House machine shares a similar view.

The Wall Street Journal reported over the weekend that Trump is mulling creating a panel to review big tech bias against conservatives. The Wall Street Journal’s Alex Leary and John McKinnon wrote.:

President Trump is considering establishing a panel to review complaints of anticonservative bias on social media, according to people familiar with the matter, in a move that would likely draw pushback from technology companies and others. The plans are still under discussion but could include the establishment of a White House-created commission that would examine allegations of online bias and censorship, these people said. The administration could also encourage similar reviews by federal regulatory agencies, such as the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Election Commission, they said.

There are only a few scant months left before Americans head back to the polls, and every little bit counts.

Home Depot Co-Founder: Media Has Done A ‘Wonderful Job Frightening America’

Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus has credited the MSM for “frightening America.”

Speaking with Fox News‘ Laura Ingraham of Marcus said that America needs to focus on protecting the vulnerable instead of locking everyone down.

Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus: Media have done a 'wonderful job frightening America'

Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus said Monday that the media have done a “wonderful job in frightening America" about the coronavirus pandemic.“My age bracket is really the problem. If we take care of my age bracket, that is 70 or above, I think that we can end a lot of the problems that are out there," Marcus told the “Ingraham Angle" on Monday. "People that are 70 or above have to be so careful because you are compromised in many different ways. But we’re only a small portion of the population and we’re closing down everybody, in addition to the schools."

“My age bracket is really the problem. If we take care of my age bracket, that is 70 or above, I think that we can end a lot of the problems that are out there,” Marcus said. “People that are 70 or above have to be so careful because you are compromised in many different ways. But we’re only a small portion of the population and we’re closing down everybody, in addition to the schools.”

He went on to cite Florida and Georgia as examples of states taking the correct initiatives going forward by reopening businesses.

“What they did is a perfect example of thinking and understanding that people needed to get out the house, needed to start their businesses again, needed to go to work again,” he said. “But there are bureaucrats all over the country in the blue states that are still closed and god knows when they’ll open. Those people up there, they are still struggling and it is desperation time for many of them.”

100% agree. The media machine, and especially the Liberal rags, have an agenda to influence the 2020 election by any means possible!

Kayleigh McEnany Torches Mainstream Media During Coronavirus Briefing

We can only assume that a steady stream of McEnany mic-drops are coming our way…and that’s just fine by us.

Published

There has been plenty of turnover in the Trump White House, and opponents of President Trump like to throw that around as though it indicates trouble at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.  While some of the recent shakeups certainly arose from dubious means, much of the shuffling that we see is simply a byproduct of the Commander in Chief’s management style.

Trump is a resultist – The ends will always justify the means under his guidance, and he moves quickly.  If a subordinate isn’t performing at his level, poof, they’re gone.

Knowing this, new White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is certainly hoping to speed up the learning curve in her new position; otherwise, she too could be former White House Press Secretary.

Judging by how she handles the press, it would seem that she’s getting the hang of things rather quickly.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany reacts to an Asian-American reporter taking offense to President Donald Trump telling her to ask China about people “losing their lives everywhere in the world.” In an interview with “FOX & Friends” on Tuesday, McEnany said reporters are making the pandemic about themselves.

“What I would note is, leave it to members of the White House press corps to make it about them, to take a question, to turn around and somehow say, how dare you ask this of me, me, me. Well, guess what, it’s not about me. This is about the American people,” McEnany said.

“President Trump says ask China about this, ask China about the facts that they slow-walked information, that alongside the WHO, that American lives were put at risk,” she said. “China has some real questions to answer here, but leave it about the White House press corps to make it about themselves.”

We can only assume that a steady stream of McEnany mic-drops are coming our way…and that’s just fine by us.

Fox News Bans Popular Commentators Diamond & Silk

Fox News has initiated an end to their collaboration with popular conservative commentators Diamond & Silk after recent comments about the coronavirus.

Published

on

Fox News has initiated an end to their collaboration with popular conservative commentators Diamond & Silk after recent comments about the coronavirus.

The announcement comes on the heels of the bombastic pair’s comments that the number of coronavirus deaths have been inflated in order to attack President Donald Trump.

“What I need to know is how many people have passed away in New York, and what I need to know is: Who has the bodies?” Diamond said during a March 30th livestream. “I need for somebody that does investigative work to call the morgues. To call the funeral homes. We need to know, because I don’t trust anything else that comes out of his mouth now… Something’s not right here. Something is off here.”

Diamond continued saying, “Is this being deliberately spread? Look, I’m not being a conspiracy theorist, this is real, but I’m asking my own questions. What the hell is going on?”

But according to a report by the left-wing Daily Beast, Fox executives were not happy with the comments.

Daily Beast claimed that the duo, whose real names are Lynette “Diamond” Hardaway and Rochelle “Silk” Richardson, are now unlikely to return to the network as guest commentators.

“After what they’ve said and tweeted you won’t be seeing them on Fox Nation or Fox News anytime soon,” the source told Daily Beast.

The pair, who have been a favorite at Trump rallies, last appeared on Fox News on March 7.

Moves like this has sent the president into criticism of the once conservative-leaning network.

Trump slammed Fox in a Tweet on Sunday.

“Fox keeps on plugging to try and become politically correct,” the president tweeted. “They put RINO Paul Ryan on their Board. They hire “debate questions to Crooked Hillary fraud Donna Brazile (and others who are even worse).”

“Fox News just doesn’t get what’s happening!” he added. “They are being fed Democrat talking points, and they play them without hesitation or research.”

POTUS Pushes for OANN to Replace Fox News as Chris Wallace Continues Anti-Trump Tirades

If you told us 4 years ago that a Republican President would be in public fight with Fox News, we may have laughed you right out of the room.

Published

on

The media wars that have taken place over the last decade or so of American history are far from over, and every crisis we face seems to expose yet another troubling facet of the fight ahead.

Things used to be fairly simple:  CNN, MSNBC, and others were on the left, and Fox News was on the right.  Now that President Trump has shattered all expectations about what American politics could be, nobody seems too sure about where these networks land these days.

This is especially true when it comes to Fox News, who have been consistently bucking the Trump doctrine via longtime personalties like Chris Wallace.  President Trump himself has repeatedly called out Wallace and Fox for their negative coverage of his time in office, and this week he’s taking his criticism a step further by suggesting that One American News Network may be a viable conservative alternative to the mainstream cable staple.

What he’s tweeting:

“@FoxNews just doesn’t get what’s happening! They are being fed Democrat talking points, and they play them without hesitation or research. They forgot that Fake News @CNN & MSDNC wouldn’t let @FoxNews participate, even a little bit, in the poor ratings Democrat Debates.

Even the Radical Left Do Nothing Democrats laughed at the Fox suggestion. No respect for the people running @FoxNews. But Fox keeps on plugging to try and become politically correct. They put RINO Paul Ryan on their Board. They hire ‘debate questions to Crooked Hillary’ fraud @donnabrazile (and others who are even worse).

Chris Wallace is nastier to Republicans than even Deface the Nation or Sleepy Eyes. The people who are watching @FoxNews, in record numbers (thank you President Trump), are angry. They want an alternative now. So do I!”Between the lines: Trump has evidently found the “alternative” he’s calling for in One America News Network. He has repeatedly praised the network’s coverage of his administration and has offered favorable treatment to its reporters.

  • Trump tweeted earlier this month: “Watching @FoxNews on weekend afternoons is a total waste of time. We now have some great alternatives, like @OANN.”

Trump’s unconventional honesty may be bad news for Chris Wallace and the rest of the mainstream media cabal, but OANN is likely smiling all the way to the bank.

A Day After Laying ‘Disinfectant’ Trap for Infotainment Industry, Trump ‘Ghosts’ the Press Corps

This leaves the infotainment industry wondering what’s better for their ratings:  Lambasting the President over an obvious joke, or having nothing at all to work with.

Published

on

The mainstream media was furious on Friday, after once again falling for a cleverly-laid trap by President Trump.

On Thursday, utilizing an extremely dry bit of wit, President Trump mentioned the possibility of testing “injected” disinfectants in the battle against coronavirus.  Unbelievably, this sarcastic remark was somehow mistaken as literal by the mainstream media, and the President on Friday said the mentioned the bizarre idea “just to see what happens”.

Well, what happened was that the infotainment industry spent the next 18 hours obsessing over the joke and pretending that it was a serious suggestion.

Trump had again played them like a fiddle.  Then, as if to add an emphatic period to the end of a sentence, Trump simply left these media miscreants hanging on Friday.

President Donald Trump on Friday exited the White House coronavirus press briefing without taking any questions from reporters.

The president concluded the briefing after he and his team delivered opening statements, saying, “Thank you very much,” before turning and exiting the room. Reporters shouted questions as he walked away.

The president suffered a brutal 24 hours of news coverage after he asked whether disinfectant or ultraviolet light could be used in the body to fight the Wuhan coronavirus.

But there may have been a reason for the kerfuffle…

Prior to the briefing, reporters said that White House staff tried to change seating in the press briefing room, moving CNN to the back of the room and moving Washington Blade reporter Chris Johnson to the front.

“White House staff just came into the briefing room and informed the print pooler that they want them to swap seats w CNN,” Yahoo News media reporter Hunter Walker wrote on Twitter. “That would move CNN to the back row from the front.”

Reporters refused to move, even though the White House staffer threatened to have Secret Service enforce the seat change.

This leaves the infotainment industry wondering what’s better for their ratings:  Lambasting the President over an obvious joke, or having nothing at all to work with.
