THANKSGIVING: Dumping Communism Saved the Pilgrims, Not the Indians

Published

on

Our kids have been taught fake news about America’s first Thanksgiving. The Indians didn’t save the Pilgrims. Ending communism did.

It is simply untrue that the Pilgrims were able to celebrate their first Thanksgiving feast because the noble Indians saved them by showing them the ways of America. No, in reality, the Pilgrims were saved because they replaced their original communist system with a capitalist ideal.

William Bradford’s fellows came to the Americas to start a colony that would be a light unto all humanity, one based on a strict adherence to the Christian Bible. They wanted the opportunity to live as they desired, unique, and free from interference from the Church of England, the Crown, or British authorities.

But when they arrived near modern-day Massachusetts and founded Plymouth Plantation — which we often call the Plymouth Colony today — they came ill-prepared to live in the wildlands they encountered.

It is absolutely true that the members of the colony became friendly with the local Wampanoag Indians. It is also true that the natives helped the colonists learn a bit more about the bounteous land the Pilgrims came to call their own.

But the colony had a flaw inherent in its original plan, and it wasn’t just a fatal unfamiliarity with how to survive in the new world. It was a flaw that almost doomed the colonists.

The problem was, the original plan for how the outpost would operate was essentially a communist system. The original plan was for all labors to contribute to a central store. Just like a commune, everyone would work for the benefit of everyone else, and all would benefit equally from the colony’s labors.

That plan sounded like a perfectly sensible, Christian ideal, after all. Bradford and his fellows thought everyone would love everyone else equally, and in Christian charity, all would be cared for equally.

Unfortunately, that is not how human nature works. And the colonists soon learned this the hard way.

The common store idea was a miserable failure because some wanted to take without giving as much into it as others had. In other words, Bradford found that some people just didn’t want to work that hard if they knew they were going to benefit from the common stores just like everyone else. Worse, some became embittered that they had worked so hard while others did not.

So, Bradford dumped the original communist ideal and replaced it with a more capitalist one by assigning a plot of land to each family to work as their own, the labors of which would benefit themselves first and foremost.

Bradford chronicled the change this way:

The experience that we had in this common course and condition tried sundry years…that by taking away property, and bringing community into a commonwealth, would make them happy and flourishing — as if they were wiser than God.

For this community (so far as it was) was found to breed much confusion and discontent and retard much employment that would have been to their benefit and comfort. For the young men, that were most able and fit for labour and service, did repine that they should spend their time and strength to work for other men’s wives and children without any recompense.

The strong, or man of parts, had no more in division of victuals and clothes than he that was weak and not able to do a quarter the other could; this was thought injustice. The aged and graver men to be ranked and equalized in labours and victuals, clothes, etc., with the meaner and younger sort, thought it some indignity and disrespect unto them.

Worse, some were embittered by the system and felt that working for the common store was “a kind of slavery”:

And for men’s wives to be commanded to do service for other men, as dressing their meat, washing their clothes, etc., they deemed it a kind of slavery, neither could many husbands well brook it.

But once Bradford assigned each family their own land, things began to turn around. “This had very good success,” wrote Bradford, “for it made all hands industrious.”

The change came just in time and turned the colony around. Plymouth Plantations went from a failing effort into a successful one.

This is not to utterly discount the help and guidance that the Indians gave the Pilgrims. They were also an essential part of the success of the Plymouth Plantations.

But the shop-worn story that the Pilgrims were stupid, starving, and dying until the noble Indians swept in and gave them a turkey and a pumpkin pie is a false narrative. The colonists did as much to save themselves by dumping a communist ideal as the Indians did to help them learn how to scratch out a life in the Massachusetts wilderness. As in most cases, real history is far more complicated than a facile trope.

So, let’s put an end to the fake history, shall we?

First Lady’s Patriotically Themed Christmas Decorations Have Twitter Users Celebrating Early

First Ladies of the future will have a high bar to aim for, that’s for sure.

Published

on

As we approach what is inarguably the most iconic of holidays here in the United States, (and abroad), there is a rich history of tradition and grace that we tap into in order to demonstrate our Christmas spirit.

Across this nation, homes will be divided about how best to exemplify their yuletide joy.  Some go for the over-the-top feats of blinky-light engineering and lawns smattered with inflatable facsimiles of cartoon characters, while others take a minimalist approach with a neatly decorated tree and a few balsam fir candles.  Most of us likely fall somewhere in between in our quest to perfect the vision of the holiday spirit while not making a gaudy mockery of the reason for the season.

That balance can be tough to find, but once again, First Lady Melania Trump has absolutely nailed it.

Melania herself offered some insight into her inspiration.

“This Christmas season I want to honor those who have shaped our country and made it the place we are proud to call home, and I am excited to announce our White House holiday theme, ‘The Spirit of America’ ” FLOTUS said in a statement released by the White House.

“When I travel the country, I am inspired by the hard-working people and families that I meet. No matter which state they call home, many Americans share a strong set of values and deep appreciation for the traditions and history of our great nation.”

First Ladies of the future will have a high bar to aim for, that’s for sure.

MLB Star Teaches Sons About Guns In Case Sanders & Socialism Win... Celebrities Rip Him Then Get Hammered

Retired Major League Baseball star Aubrey Huff boasted he’s ‘teaching his sons to shoot guns in case Bernie beats Trump’ sparking furious Twitter spat with Kathy Griffin and Tom Arnold.

“Getting my boys trained up on how to use a gun in the unlikely event @BernieSanders beats @realDonaldTrump in 2020. In which case knowing how to effectively use a gun under socialism will be a must. By the way most the head shots were theirs.”

TDW:

This week, former MLB baseball star Aubrey Huff triggered outrage on social media after he tweeted a picture from a gun range, adding he was training his sons to shoot in the “unlikely event @Bernie Sanders beats @realDonald Trump in 2020. In which case knowing how to effectively use a gun under socialism will be a must.” That elicited hostile responses from comedienne Kathy Griffin and actor Tom Arnold, both off which received blunt responses from Huff, as The Daily Mail reported.

Huff, who played 13 seasons in major league baseball and slugged 242 home runs, was six years old when his father, an electrician, was murdered as he tried to break up a fight between a man and his girlfriend. He recalled to MLive in 2009, “My dad was an electrician and he was on a call in Abilene. I’m told he came in and heard a racket. He walked over to the people and asked, ‘Is there a problem?’ The man arguing with his girlfriend said, ‘It’s none of your business.’ And then, he shot my dad and his girlfriend. And today, he’s serving life in prison. My mom told me and my sister that her whole life was going to revolve around us. She did everything for us she could. And to keep me out of trouble, Mom bought me a batting cage.” More

Aubrey Huff is a great Dad and a concerned American. Teaching your children how to safely act around guns is the responsibility of every American.
This is an engaged parent teaching his kids correctly how to safely handle a gun. His responses to these two dimwitted D-list celebrities were spot on and fact-filled. Good for him. I love it.
Griffin and Arnold, what a pair of loons. They are both just washed up hacks desperately trying to stay relevant.

Poll Finds Government Workers More Likely to Support Socialism, Hate the 2nd Amendment

Published

on

This will not be a shocker to anyone, but a new poll finds that government workers are far more likely to oppose America by supporting socialism and by wanting an end to Constitutional provisions like the Second Amendment.

It cannot be a great surprise that the very people who make a living squeezing the life out of average American taxpayers are all fired up about destroying the U.S. Constitution and instituting socialism.

After all, they feel THEY will be the ones in charge when everyone else loses their freedom.

The results come from a recent Rasmussen poll that found 36 percent of government workers who responded to say they would back an outright, avowed socialist for president. It was the highest percentage of any employment demographic.

Democrats were unsurprisingly more likely to vote for a socialist candidate at 41 percent, but number fell among other blocks. Only 19 percent of Republicans and an even smaller 16 percent of unaffiliated voters said they would vote for a socialist. (Who are these 19 percent of Republicans who need to be expelled from the party, anyway?)

Government workers also heavily supported the idea of repealing the Second Amendment and taking the right of self-defense away from Americans.

Only 24 percent over all supported repealing the Second Amendment. Meanwhile, 32 percent of government leeches — er, “employees” — supported repealing our right to bear arms.

“Government workers were more in line with other voters on legislation to ban private ownership of ‘assault-style rifles,’ with 46percent of public employees favoring such a ban and 49percent of those polled overall in support,” the Washington Times reported.

“I think it signifies that we have an entire class of government workers across the country that are primarily interested in dramatically expanding their own power,” Heartland research director Justin Haskins to the paper. “It’s particularly telling that you have a very large class of people all across the country, not just in Washington, that are essentially voting and asking for dramatically more power over their communities.”

There’s no doubt about that.

The poll of 1,000 likely U.S. voters, conducted Nov. 13-14 and released Monday, surveyed 33% Democrats, 33% Republicans and 30% independents.

Grandmother Set To Celebrate 4th Thanksgiving With Teen She Accidentally Invited To Dinner

Grandmother Set To Celebrate 4th Thanksgiving With Teen She Accidentally Invited To Dinner

You may remember the Mesa grandmother who accidentally invited a total stranger over for dinner – thinking it was her grandson. It wasn’t, but he showed up anyway, sparking a four year Thanksgiving tradition.

A text message sent to the wrong number brought a grandmother and a 17-year-old high school senior together on Thanksgiving in 2016 – now, they are getting ready to celebrate again, for the fourth year in a row.

ABC:

Two families will share their fourth turkey day after an accidental text message brought them together in 2016.

The tradition began when Wanda Dench, now 62, thought she was texting her grandson to invite him to Thanksgiving when she actually texted Jamal Hinton, now 20.

Hinton, a high school senior at the time, responded by asking for a photo to confirm if it was his own grandmother behind the text. The picture came in of a woman with blonde hair and glasses — not Jamal’s grandma.

“[You’re] not my grandma,” Jamal replied with a laughing emoji.

Hinton of Phoenix, Arizona, sent back a selfie to let her know he was not her grandson and asked if he could stop by for dinner anyway.

Dench replied, “Of course you can. That’s what grandmas do … feed everyone.”

Each year, Hinton tweets a photo of himself with Dench enjoying Thanksgiving together. More

I love this story and it only gets better every year.
This is the kind of story that makes me think about what I’m truly thankful for on Thanksgiving.

Notre Dame Protesters Demand Removal Of 50% Of White Male Authors From Curriculum

Why not just add works by non-whites and females to the canonical list of great books?

Notre Dame Protesters Demand Removal Of 50% Of White Male Authors From Curriculum

Activists at the University of Notre Dame are calling for the removal of white authors from the university curriculum to “decolonize” the university. According to the students, “diversifying the canon helps eliminate the violence of only privileging white scholarship.”

A student activist group at the University of Notre Dame called “End Hate at ND” is demanding that the university drastically rewrite course curriculum because they believe it currently features too many works by white authors, according to a report from The College Fix.

The College Fix:

A group of students at the University of Notre Dame is demanding that courses be reworked to reduce the number of reading materials penned by white, male scholars in an effort to “eliminate the violence of only privileging white scholarship.”

It’s one of several demands the “End Hate at ND” group has put forth recently. The group describes itself as “an initiative for organizing civil action against racist, xenophobic, sexist, trans-exclusionary, & queer-phobic structures at Notre Dame.”

The protesters’ demands also include diversity trainings in dorms, an end to a longstanding campus policy that forbids students from spending the night in the dorms of the opposite sex, and calls for the university to work with local Native American tribes.

As for the demand labeled “Decolonize Academia,” the student activists argue “cultural competence is key in building empathy for marginalized folks.” More

The activist group published a list of demands to their Instagram page.

Cultural competence is key in building empathy for marginalized folks. No course or program of study should have a view limited to white, western, and/or male voices. We demand that people who are of Color, Indigenous, Black, queer, or not male are represented in the authorship of at least half course and major required readings. Diversifying the canon helps eliminate the violence of only privileging white scholarship. Everyone should see themselves represented in coursework.

The stupid is strong at Notre Dame, as it is at most failed colleges and universities. Instead of preparing kids to be an adult in the real world, they are graduating a bunch of snowflakes who think the world needs to conform to their feelings.

When your university becomes more popular for the protests on campus than for the education that you deliver, its time to shut the doors.

Chick-fil-A Disputes Charges It Caved to the Left, Its Actions Show Otherwise

A minority of conservatives insist that fast food giant Chick-fil-A has not caved into the radical LGBTQ lobby over its charitable donations. But has it?

Published

on

A minority of conservatives insist that fast food giant Chick-fil-A has not caved into the radical LGBTQ lobby over its charitable donations. The company also strenuously disputes the right’s attack on its recent change in charitable giving. However, the company’s actions show that it has caved, despite its loud protestations to the contrary.

For years, the nation’s favorite chicken sandwich place has suffered attacks from religion-hating leftists over its frequent donations to organizations that espouse traditional Christian views against gay marriage and the radical homosexual lifestyle.

Finally, last week the company announced that it will no longer give to the organizations it was working with that do not toe the radial LGBTQ line.

“We made multi-year commitments to both organizations and we fulfilled those obligations in 2018,” a representative for Chick-fil-A explained, adding that its new donation scheme will focus on “education, homelessness and hunger.”

The decision to cease its donations to the groups it had associated itself with for years quickly came under fire among conservatives worried that Chick-fil-A was turning its back on its loyal, heavily Christian, fan base in lieu of placating the radical, hate-filled left.

But Chick-fil-A has come out swinging and insisting that it has not turned its back on Christians.

The company went to the media to insist that it has not thrown away its many decades of support for Christian ideals and customers:

“There’s no question we know that, as we go into new markets, we need to be clear about who we are,” Chick-fil-A President and Chief Operating Officer Tim Tassopoulos said in an interview with Bisnow. “There are lots of articles and newscasts about Chick-fil-A, and we thought we needed to be clear about our message.” The new initiative will no longer include donating to organizations like the Salvation Army, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Paul Anderson Youth Home, Chick-fil-A says, all of which sparked criticism in the past from the LGBT community due to the organizations’ stances on homosexuality.

….

“This provides more focus and more clarity,” Tassopoulos said. “We think [education, hunger and homelessness] are critical issues in communities where we do business in the U.S.”

Looking ahead, Chick-fil-A leaders told Bisnow the mission of the company is to serve all members of its many communities. But the company also recognizes that changes are needed, especially if some communities don’t want to see a Chick-fil-A sign go up in their backyard. “When there is a tension, we want to make sure we’re being clear. We think this is going to be helpful,” Tassopoulos said. “It’s just the right thing to do: to be clear, caring and supportive, and do it in the community.”

Chick-fil-A also got the endorsement of a major Christian leader in the person of the Reverend Franklin Graham who took to his Facebook page to scold those saying the fast food joint had caved to the left.

Here is what Graham had to say:

Has Chick-fil-A caved? Some are saying they’ve rolled over, that they’ve conceded to the LGBTQ protests because they released a statement about their charitable giving. They announced that in 2020 they’re giving to fight hunger and homelessness and support education. What’s wrong with that?

I picked up the phone and called Dan Cathy. Dan was very clear that they have not bowed down to anyone’s demands, including the LGBTQ community. They will continue to support whoever they want to support. They haven’t changed who they are or what they believe. Chick-fil-A remains committed to Christian values. Dan Cathy assured me that this isn’t going to change. I hope all those who jumped to the wrong conclusion about them read this.

In my opinion, the gay movement wouldn’t ever be happy with Chick-fil-A unless they were open on Sunday, gave all of their charitable donations to LGBTQ organizations, and flew the rainbow flag over their stores! Their hatred for Chick-fil-A is rooted in founder Truett Cathy’s strong stand for biblical “traditional” values and his desire to honor God.

No fast food chain does a better job. I went through the drive-thru at Chick-fil-A yesterday morning, and I thought I might get dinner there—but a whole lot of other people had the same idea! A Chick-fil-A sandwich with waffle fries sounds really good right now!

However, Chick-fil-A’s actions make the lie to their claim that they have not changed their focus to placate the radical LGBTQ activists.

First of all, Chick-fil-A even hired a hardcore Obama/Clinton operative to serve as its Executive Director of the CFA Foundation. That man is Rodney D. Bullard, a former White House fellow and Assistant US Attorney.

Don’t be confused that Bullard worked for the Bush White House because all his political activism has been to the left. According to Front Page Mag, Bullard was a large donor to both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. He even donated to Hillary while working for Chick-fil-A.

Under Bullard, CFA’s charitable giving has veered hard to the left. Funds have been doled out to leftist groups such as Atlanta’s Westside Future Fund, which is a project of the Atlanta Committee for Progress together with former Mayor Kasim Reed.

CFA also gave $100,000 went to Sustainable Atlanta, and $10,000 to Saris to Suits whose mission is to “advance women’s empowerment, education, gender equality, and social justice.” Then there was the $25,000 handed over to the far-left UNICEF, and $75,000 for the Andrew Young Foundation. And $20,000 went to the Latino Leaders Network, $20,000 to the Harvard Debate Diversity Network, $45,000 to the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change, and $5,000 was allotted to Friends of Refugees — the latter a Muslim charity. There are many more donations to had-left groups just like this.

All of these organizations are extreme left-wing groups that work strictly contrary Christian ideals in particular and American mores in general.

Then there is the newly ballyhooed association with the “Catholic” Covenant House.

But, as Mat Staver recently noted:

The founder of Covenant House, a Catholic priest pedophile, was sued for allegedly sexually abusing the youth who were seeking shelter and food. Covenant House proudly promotes LGBTQ on its website, referring to “LGBTQ Inclusion Initiatives,” and even doing an “inclusion assessment” at every one of its facilities.

Covenant House also proudly supports the New York City Gay Pride parade with its own float, banners, t-shirts, and hastag #CovUnity. Covenant House is recognized as a national funder of LGBTQ causes.

Covenant House also has a program that helps take pregnant teens to abortion clinics.

With its announcement last week that it is finally moving to jettison the last few overtly Christian charities it once supported, Chick-fil-A as now completed it betrayal of Christians, at least as far as its charitable giving is concerned.

Granted all this was done for business, not necessarily ideological, reasons. Chick-fil-A, you see, is desperately trying to expand outside the U.S.A. for the first time.

It may be one of the top three restaurant chains in America, but unlike its competitors, it has no locations outside the U.S. And one of the reasons it has been blocked from expanding internationally is because of its famous reputation as a Christian corporation.

Indeed, CFA recently had to close its only British store because radical gay activists forced it to fail with protests and boycott campaigns.

As CFA looks to expand outside the U.S.A. it has deemed its past Christian principles to be an obstacle to financial success. So, say bye, bye to those principles.

Chick-fil-A has finally lost its once unique place as America’s premiere Christian corporation and become an also ran among the religion-hating left

AG Barr Weighs in on Epstein Case, Says No One Entered His Cell on Fateful Night

It is unclear whether or not Barr’s insinuations will quell the avalanche of online conspiracy theories, however.

Published

on

Despite all of the pop culture chaos surrounding the death of Jeffrey Epstein, Attorney General Bill Barr has found some more cold water to throw into the conspiratorial fire.

For weeks now, the internet has been rife with memes videos of people intimating one, singular truth to be held above all others:  Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself.  This is, of course, a reference to the alleged suicide of the wealthy and well-connected convicted pedophile who mysteriously “hung himself” in one of the nation’s most secure prisons while awaiting trial on charges of child sex trafficking.

Given Epstein’s vast connections, and accusations that he was grooming child sex slaves for the wealthy elite, rumors began to swirl after his death.  This gossip was compounded by a consortium of suspicious details and unanswered questions.

Now, Attorney General Bill Barr has characterized the unbelievable story as a “perfect storm of screw-ups”.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Barr said his concerns were prompted by the numerous irregularities at the Manhattan jail where Epstein was being held. But he said after the FBI and the Justice Department’s inspector general continued to investigate, he realized there were a “series” of mistakes made that gave Epstein the chance to take his own life.

“I can understand people who immediately, whose minds went to sort of the worst-case scenario because it was a perfect storm of screw-ups,” Barr told the AP as he flew to Montana for an event.

Furthermore…

The attorney general also sought to dampen conspiracy theories by people who have questioned whether Epstein really took his own life, saying the evidence proves Epstein killed himself. He added that he personally reviewed security footage that confirmed that no one entered the area where Epstein was housed on the night he died.

Of course, the concept of these conspiracy theories seem to constantly question the official narrative, and it doesn’t get any more official than the word of the nation’s top cop.
