Senators Accused of Coronavirus Stock Scam Questioned by FBI

Justice may be served yet.

Published

on

In the days leading up to coronavirus’ arrival here in the United States, several key US Senators were apparently using information gleaned from confidential briefings to protect their own wealth.

Accusations of this wrongdoing have been leveled at several elected officials, who allegedly held this grim information tightly in order to offload soon-to-be ravaged stocks before the public ever knew better.

Of course, this is as blatant as it gets in terms of putting personal wealth over public health, and We The People were immediately furious upon discovering the debauchery.

The FBI is now on the case.

Federal agents seized a cellphone belonging to a prominent Republican senator on Wednesday night as part of the Justice Department’s investigation into controversial stock trades he made as the novel coronavirus first struck the U.S., a law enforcement official said.

Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina, the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, turned over his phone to agents after they served a search warrant on the lawmaker at his residence in the Washington area, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss a law enforcement action.

The seizure represents a significant escalation in the investigation into whether Burr violated a law preventing members of Congress from trading on insider information they have gleaned from their official work.

To obtain a search warrant, federal agents and prosecutors must persuade a judge they have probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. The law enforcement official said the Justice Department is examining Burr’s communications with his broker.

In addition, well-known Democratic leader Dianne Feinstein was also questioned about stock maneuvers by her husband during a similar timeframe.

As COVID Deaths Creep Toward 100K, Trump Orders Flags to Half Mast

Memorial Day’s somber tune will be a sung a little louder this year.

Published

on

Memorial Day has long been a somber holiday, hijacked by the outdoor grilling and swimming pool industries, but this year some of the levity could find its way back to the long weekend.

The holiday is meant as a reminder that we are free only thanks to the sacrifice that men and women across this nation have endured in order to preserve our freedoms.  They gave it all to protect our liberty, from Boston to Berlin to Baghdad.

Now, in a touching tribute to the nearly 100,000 that we’ve lost battling the invisible enemy known as COVID-19, President Trump is ordering the nation’s flags to half mast.

U.S. government buildings, military posts and embassies will fly the flag at half-staff through Memorial Day weekend in memory of the nearly 100,000 people who have died of COVID-19, President Trump announced Thursday night. The decision comes after Democratic leaders in Congress sent a letter to the president requesting the gesture.

“I will be lowering the flags on all Federal Buildings and National Monuments to half-staff over the next three days in memory of the Americans we have lost to the CoronaVirus,” Trump said via Twitter.

Flags will be lowered from Friday through Sunday’s sunset. Trump added that flags will again be flown at half-staff on Monday to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

The gesture is a very welcome bit of bipartisanship in this increasingly divided nation.

The presidential proclamation came after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer sent Trump a letter asking him to order that flags be flown at half-staff on all public buildings on what they called “a sad day of reckoning” — when the U.S. marks 100,000 deaths.

“It would serve as a national expression of grief so needed by everyone in our country,” they wrote.

There are currently more than 95,000 known deaths from COVID-19 in the United States, all recorded over the course of the last several weeks.

Tucker Carlson Slams Lockdowns: ‘No Evidence They Saved America’

Fox News host Tucker Carlson pointed out that there is no evidence that the lockdowns have done anything to “save the country.”

Published

on

With the country in total economic ruin, Fox News host Tucker Carlson pointed out that there is no evidence that the lockdowns have done anything to “save the country.”

Carlson questioned the purported science behind the lockdowns, and on his Thursday broadcast said that the data just doesn’t prove the case for them.

“The one thing you never saw from these people, these journalists, was a straightforward discussion about whether or not lockdowns actually work,” Carlson said on his show.

“You’d think that would be the first thing they would talk about, but they didn’t want to. Hundreds of millions of people ordered to stay home, only go outside for essential reasons. Does forcing people to live like that really contain a virus? There are a lot of reasons actually to believe that it does not contain a virus,” he said.

Tucker went on:

For example, forcing people into close quarters all day obviously increases the odds of infecting family members. The biggest studies on that have shown it. Closing every business except grocery stores forces a lot of people into a small space. Is that a good idea? There are a lot of potential problems. We don’t know all of the answers. Someday we’ll have a better understanding of the science behind quarantines. We should have had it before we imposed them.

But for now, here’s what you need to know and what they’re not going to tell you. There is, as of tonight, precisely no evidence that the lockdowns in America saved lives anywhere. In fact, it’s possible that mass quarantines killed people. Researchers at JPMorgan compared the coronavirus infection rates of all 50 U.S. states and many European countries before and after the mass quarantines.

Overall, ending the lockdowns was associated with a slower spread of the virus. Did you hear that? Ending the lockdowns slowed the spread of the virus or was associated with a slower spread. Amazing. For some reason, that study has not received a lot of attention. Maybe you shouldn’t be surprised by that. More than any other governor, maybe in the country, Kristi Noem from South Dakota refused to lock her state down. She refused to use the coronavirus pandemic to enhance her personal powers.

For that, she was vilified in the national press. Some outlets treated her like a mass murderer. On April 13, The Washington Post wrote this, quote, “South Dakota’s Governor resisted ordering people to stay home. Now it has one of the nation’s largest coronavirus hotspots.” Meanwhile, the obedient states, states that imprisoned their entire population, got round applause from the entire American media. The very next day. “The New York Times” lauded California, by contrast, this way, quote, “California set the tone on coronavirus shutdowns. What’s its next move?”

And the message of all of this, of course, is unmistakable. You saw it at the time, California was saving its people. Rightwing, old South Dakota was plunging its state into calamity. So, that was more than five weeks ago. How did things turn out in the end? Have you seen a follow-up story on it? Probably not. Here the facts. As of today, about five per hundred thousand people in South Dakota have died of the coronavirus. In California, the death toll is 8.4 per hundred thousand. That’s 64 percent higher.

That doesn’t prove lockdowns kill people. It does suggest it doesn’t work very well. And yet even now, millions of Americans are living, suffocating under continued lockdown. The state’s economy has been crushed, particularly for middle-class people. They’re barred from going to work. They can’t go on the dry sand in Los Angeles per their lunatic mayor. Now, you can laugh about this because it’s stupid. But for millions of healthy people at virtually no risk from dying of this virus, the lockdowns have been a life-changing disaster.

Dr. Fauci Suddenly ‘Totally in Favor’ of Re-Opening America

After becoming a target of criticism over his coronavirus claims, Suddenly Dr. Anthony Fauci is advocating for the re-opening of America.

Published

on

After becoming a target of criticism that he is absurdly restrictive with his coronavirus pronouncements, suddenly Dr. Anthony Fauci is advocating for the re-opening of America.

In fact, Fauci just said that if the U.S. doesn’t restart its economy soon, it may cause “irreparable damage.”

That is a far cry from the doctor who was only recently saying the whole world would be drenched in death if we re-start our economies.

On Friday, Trump’s now famous White House health adviser said that he supports reopening the country, and the exclaimed that the country “can’t stay locked down.”

In comments to CNBC, Fauci said, “I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go.”

Fauci stuck with his claim that shuttering the country was the right move early in the pandemic.

On the other hand, he now wants people to know he is not a proponent of lockdown-forever like so many Democrats seem to be.

“I don’t want people to think that any of us feel that staying locked down for a prolonged period of time is the way to go,” he said.

Still, he cautioned against opening without a plan.

He added that proper precautions need to be put in place because the time has come to “seriously look at reopening the economy.”

“N]ow is the time, depending upon where you are and what your situation is, to begin to seriously look at reopening the economy, reopening the country to try to get back to some degree or normal, he said.

“I’m totally in favor of that if done in the proper way and appropriate setting,” Fauci insisted.

But Fauci has taken criticism that he is unrealistic about his lockdown policies and that he continues to push for lockdown despite the utter economic destruction it is causing.

New York Gov. Cuomo Dodges Blame For High Death Toll In His State

Published

Smug Andrew Cuomo Mocks Workers Who Want To Go Back To Work To Feed Their Families

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo dodged blame for the high death toll in his state. “Who knew the virus was already here January, February, March? Now, who should have known, it’s above my pay grade as governor of one state.”

Well, that’s interesting. If it’s not New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s responsibility, then he also doesn’t get the credit for doing anything good either, right?

TDW:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been endlessly praised by the mainstream media, but by the numbers, his state has done far worse than any other in America in handling the outbreak.

New York state has the most coronavirus cases in the United States. As of Friday, there have been 28,743 COVID-19 deaths in the state, the fourth most populous in the U.S., with more than 19 million people. But California, the most populous state at nearly 40 million residents, has had just 3,604 deaths. Texas, second-most populous at about 29 million, has had only 1,461 deaths. And Florida, No. 3 on the list at 21 million and home to many elderly residents, comes in between the two, at 2,190 COVID-19 deaths.

In fact, New York has more deaths than the next five hardest-hit states combined, according to Johns Hopkins Center for System Science and Engineering.

But Cuomo said Thursday that none of that is his responsibility. The governor said that if “the country” — not his administration, the country — knew earlier, things could have been much easier.

“If this country knew more and knew it earlier, I think we could’ve saved many, many more lives,” he said. “I mean, if you think about it in retrospect, the virus is in China, November, December, everybody knows that. More

Nearly half of all coronavirus deaths come from three very democratic states in the north… New Jersey, New York, and Massachusetts. “Cuomo enacted a state directive that required nursing homes to take in coronavirus-positive patients, which brought the virus sweeping through the most vulnerable population.” Gov. Andrew Cuomo owns this.

Michigan Judge Rejects State’s Call to Force a Barbershop to Close in Compliance with Coronavirus Orders

A judge has rejected a call by the state to force a Michigan barbershop to close in compliance with Gov. Whitmer’s coronavirus lockdown orders.

Published

on

A Michigan judge has rejected a call by state officials to force an Owosso barbershop to close in compliance with Gov. Whitmer’s draconian coronavirus lockdown orders.

During a Thursday hearing, Shiawassee County Circuit Judge Matthew Stewart refused to issue a preliminary injunction against barber Karl Manke.

The judge just did not agree that the state proved that the 77-year-old barber was a “danger” to the community.

According to the Detroit News:

Stewart said while his decision was a “close call,” he could not grant the state’s request because officials failed to demonstrate that Manke was posing an imminent public health and safety threat by serving customers during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Stewart said the threat the state alleges that Manke poses to public health and safety “must be actual and not theoretical.”

The judge also asked state assistant attorney general Joseph Potchen why Manke was not arrested if he was a public health or safety risk.

“We’re not looking to arrest him or throw him in jail … just close his business until it is safe,” Potchen said.

The barber gained national attention when he got tired of the autocratic governor’s decrees that the state must be locked down and his business destroyed.

But in obedience to his boss, state attorney Potchen insisted that barbering is a “dirty” business that requires “dangerous” close proximity to customers.

But David Kallman, Manke’s attorney, said his client’s defiance is a stand for his First Amendment rights.

“He’s protesting the government lockdown,” Kallman said. “This is symbolic speech. This is happening because they’re trying to silence him.”

Indeed, they are.

‘New York Post’ Fed Up: End New York City’s Lockdown Now!

Looks like even the ‘New York Post’ is sick and tired of the destruction wrought by the liberal’s coronavirus lockdowns.

Published

on

Looks like even the New York Post is sick and tired of the destruction wrought by the liberal’s coronavirus lockdowns.

In an editorial posted on Thursday, David Marcus called for an end to the destructive lockdowns that have been decimating New York’s economy.

Marcus started his oped with the story of a food line that recently formed in the Big Apple.

“Last Friday morning,” Marcus wrote, “some 3,500 New Yorkers lined up at a Catholic church in Queens to receive free food hours before it even opened, according to the New York Police Department. Catholic Charities has reported a 200 percent increase in demand over the past month and a half.”

“By prolonging the coronavirus shutdown long after its core mission was accomplished, Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio have plunged tens of thousands of New Yorkers into poverty,” Marcus added.

“It needs to end. Now,” he said.

Indeed. Just think about this.

New York has bread lines again just like they did during the Great Depression!

One of the most prosperous cities in the world has been reduced to bead lines. Over a bad flu.

Marcus continued:

In mid-March, we were told we have to endure a lockdown to ensure that hospitals didn’t get overrun. We did. The hospitals were not overwhelmed. We turned the Javits Center into a hospital. We didn’t need it. We brought in a giant Navy ship to treat New Yorkers. We didn’t need it.

We were told we were moments away from running out of ventilators. We weren’t, and now the United States has built so many, we are giving them away to other countries.

Marcus adds that the streets of the Big Apple are empty. Where there was once the bustle of commerce, now it is a ghost town.

“For two months, we have waited for Cuomo and de Blasio to tell us how this ends,” Marcus added. “Where is ex-Mayor Michael Bloomberg with his alleged army of tracers that the governor told us was the key to reopening? And why did he hand that responsibility over to Bloomberg, whom nobody elected anyway?”

Marcus then pointed out that the states that have opened their economies have not suffered the massive number of deaths that the liberals prophesied.

But in New York, the “leaders” have failed their voters.

So, Marcus has a suggestion. The people need to take back their freedom.

“We did what we were asked. We flattened the freakin’ curve. There is no longer any reasonable justification for the government to deprive us of our livelihoods. And our rights aren’t the government’s to grant or take away. They belong to us — the free grant of nature and the God of nature. We’re Americans. More than that: New Yorkers, goddammit,” he concluded.

Marcus is right. It is time for America to take their lives back from these fascist politicians.

California, Seattle Approve $225 Million in Coronavirus ‘Relief’ Tax Dollars for Illegal Aliens

The left-wing states of California and Washington are looking to give more than $200 million in purported “coronavirus relief funds” to illegal aliens.

Published

on

The left-wing states of California and Washington are looking to give more than $200 million in purported coronavirus “relief funds” to illegal aliens.

The State of California has already approved $135 million in so-called relief funds for illegals.

Illegal aliens are not eligible for the $2.2 trillion stimulus package approved by Congress, which gives cash payments to most Americans and increases unemployment benefits.

But now, California will give taxpayer dollars to illegals, according to CNBC:

California will give cash payments to immigrants living in the country illegally, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday, using a mix of taxpayer money and charitable contributions to give 150,000 adults $500 each during the coronavirus outbreak.

California has an estimated 2 million immigrants living in the country illegally. They are not eligible for the $2.2 trillion stimulus package approved by Congress last month, which gives cash payments to most Americans plus boosts unemployment benefits by $600 per week.

“We feel a deep sense of gratitude for people that are in fear of deportations that are still addressing essential needs of tens of millions of Californians,” said Newsom, who noted 10% of the state’s workforce are immigrants living in the country illegally who paid more than $2.5 billion in state and local taxes last year.

Even more absurdly, Newsom says he won’t require them to provide any personal information to get the free tax dollars. Apparently, all they have to do is claim it, and it’s No questions asked.

One wonders how many times each illegal will “ask”?

To the north, the City of Seattle is also looking to get into the act.

The Seattle City Council launched a call for the Washington legislature to create a $100 million “relief fund” for illegals who did not qualify for the federal stimulus cash.

Per Fox News:

The city’s council passed a resolution Monday asking Gov. Jay Inslee to create a “Washington Worker Relief Fund” to provide “economic assistance to undocumented Washingtonians during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

According to The Seattle Times, the vote was 9-0 and Mayor Jenny Durkan was to sign the measure.

“Looking out for the most vulnerable in our community is even more critical in times of crisis,” Durkan said, according to The Times. “It is all the more important to ensure we are not pushing people further into the shadows.”

One has to wonder if the taxpayers in these states don’t mind having their jobs decimated by draconian lockdowns while their governments give away millions in free cash to illegals?
