GOP Rep. Thomas Massie on War With Syria: ‘The First Casualty of War is the Truth’ [VIDEO]

Published

on

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) of the Freedom Caucus is one of the few congressmen in DC who actually seeks to follow the Constitution.  Earlier this week, Massie appeared on CNN to be asked about the things going on in Syria and whether or not he would support a war effort there.  While Massie deplored the actions taking place in Syria, he stepped back and warned that the truth is the first casualty in war and that the Constitution vests all power to declare war in Congressnot the Executive Branch.

One of the remarkable things about the video interview below is the level of frustration by CNN talking head Kate Bolduan as time and again she appealed to emotion, not law, in an attempt to push Massie into siding with a war in Syria.  Take a look.

Did you see those faces she was making?  And they hypocritically claim to be unbiased, as if any reporting is unbiased.

Trending: First Day of ‘Impeachment Hearings’ Immediately Prove Farcical

Massie does not believe that Syrian President Bashar Assad is behind the chemical attacks that took place against civilians.  In fact, he questions if they even happened, and rightly so.  I mean after you’ve seen fake news outlets like CNN put out fake video news to stir up war in Syria like this, who wouldn’t question it?

https://youtu.be/p-DCZxsrt9I

Or , remember when they just merely staged a report in the studio as though it was from somewhere else?

“It’s hard to know exactly what’s happening in Syria right now,” said Massie.

“I’d like to know specifically how that release of chemical gas, if it did occur — and it looks like it did — how that occurred. Because frankly, I don’t think Assad would have done that. It does not serve his interest to draw us into that civil war even further.”

Massie voted against an American intervention in Syria in 2014.

While President Trump claims that Assad did it, the fact is that he is dependent upon others to tell him this information, just like President George W. Bush was concerning WMDs in Iraq.  We all know how that turned out.

Clearly, Ms. Bolduan could not understand Massie’s questioning of the attack or who was behind it.  Perhaps she has not seen inside CNN’s closet above.  However, she questioned Massie as to whom he thinks was responsible.

Rep. Massie put forth several “plausible” scenarios.  One was that gas leaked from an ammunition arsenal that was attacked.  This is the claims of Assad and Russia.

“You’ve got a war going on over there,” Massie said. “Supposedly that airstrike was on an ammo dump, and so I don’t know if it was released because there was gas stored in the ammo dump or not — that’s plausible. I’m not saying that’s what I think happened.  I don’t think it would have served Assad’s purposes to do a chemical attack on his people.”

“It’s hard for me to understand why he would do that,” he added.  “If he did.”

Indeed, what is the motive behind such a thing?  CNN certainly doesn’t have an answer, and I don’t think the White House does either.

Massie then warned that sticking our nose in the situation might make it worse and warned of the casualty of the truth.

“We might end up making the situation worse if we launch airstrikes,” Massie said. “The first casualty of war is the truth, and it’s hard to know exactly what’s happening in Syria right now.”

Massie stuck to the current issue when asked about President Trump blaming Barack Hussein Obama Soetoro Sobarkah for the attack.

“He’s gone,” Massie said. “It’s ours to deal with now.”

Of course, Massie is at odds with Trump and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) on the issue.

Trump has argued against toppling Assad, but called the attacks, “an affront to humanity” that “crosses many, many lines.”

Of course it does, but honestly America, we have been engaged in decades of a holocaust murdering 60 million of the most innocent among us.  Do we really have the moral high ground here to pontificate on such things?  Let’s clean our own backyard first before we go in someone else’s (Matt. 7:3).

“Bashar Assad and his friends, the Russians, take note of what Americans say,” McCain said. “I’m sure they took note of what our Secretary of State said just the other day, that the Syrian people would be determining their own future themselves — one of the more incredible statements I’ve ever heard.”

Why is it incredible to McCain, a man that helped fund, train and arm Islamic jihadists against Assad which later became the Islamic State,  that a people of a sovereign country would determine their own future?  it’s probably because, at heart, the man is not a war hero, but a traitor to our country.

As for Rep. Massie, I can say he is consistent in this matter.  He believes that the Constitution invests power to declare war in Congress, not the President.  In 2013, Massie said that missile strikes against Syria were “an act of war” and that only Congress can declare war, something they have not done since World War II.

In fact, he believes it so much that he was looking to be on board with the impeachment of Trump in case he starts any new wars without following the U.S. Constitution’s requirement to seek a congressional declaration of war.  I was with Jeff Sessions and Walter Jones when the Obama administration did that in Libya.  I’m with Congressman Massie on this issue now.

Jordan Shreds Democrats’ Impeachment Witness: ‘What You Heard Did Not Happen’

Jim Jordan shredded the Democrats’ impeachment witness Ambassador William Taylor: ‘What you heard did not happen.’

Today in a nutshell: Ambassador William Taylor wasn’t on the call. He’s never spoken with Mulvaney. He’s never met the president. And he’s their star witness. “I’ve seen church prayer chains that are easier to understand than this.” -Jim Jordan

TDW:

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) ripped Democrats’ impeachment witness Ambassador William Taylor on Wednesday as he deconstructed the narrative the Democratic Party has promoted surrounding President Donald Trump’s July 25 phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

During one exchange, Jordan highlighted Taylor’s limited knowledge of the events about which he was testifying:

Jordan: You didn’t listen in on President Trump and Zelensky’s call?

Taylor: I did not.

Jordan: You’ve never talked with Chief of Staff Mulvaney?

Taylor: I never did.

Jordan: You’ve never met the president?

Taylor: That’s correct.

Jordan: You had three meetings again with Zelenksy and it didn’t come up … and President Zelensky never made an announcement. … and you’re their star witness.

“In those 55 days that aid is delayed, you met with President Zelensky three times,” Jordan said. “The first one was on July 26, the day after the famous call now between President Trump and President Zelensky.” More

Prominent Anti-Trump Voice George Conway Tapped by MSNBC to Kick Off Impeachment Coverage

As if this weren’t already enough of a circus.

Published

on

The predictable nature of the mainstream media is on full display this week as public impeachment hearings promise to further divide our nation down party lines.

The Democrats, hellbent on somehow reversing the results of the 2016 election, are practically gloating at the moment.  They see this media circus as their ticket to a nation not under the watchful eye of President Trump, hoping to steer the American public ever further to the left.

The media is little more than a catalyst for this hyperbolic hullabaloo, and they aren’t even hiding it anymore.  On MSNBC, one of the most consistently anti-Trump networks, they’ve even gone as far as to tap George Conway, husband of White House adviser Kellyanne Conway and frequent critic of the President, to kick off the marathon coverage.

Attorney George Conway, the husband of senior Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, kicked off MSNBC’s live coverage of the impeachment of President Donald Trump with a devastating takedown of Republicans, saying he is “horrified and appalled” by the way the GOP has handled this.

MSNBC scored quite the coup with the provocative Conway, and he did not disappoint.

Co-anchor Nicolle Wallace asked Conway to explain what it is that Trump did that was impeachable, and Conway explained a president’s duty to “faithfully execute the laws.

“When you take on that duty… you are promising to take that awesome power that’s being thrust upon you and use it for the nation’s benefit, and not for your own benefit,” Conway said, and added “And the problem with Donald Trump is he always sees himself first. Trump is all about Trump.”

He went on to say “that’s what this is all about, he’s using, he was using the power of the presidency at its most unchecked area, foreign affairs, to advance his own personal interests as opposed to the country.”

For many, the entire impeachment process is nothing more than a show, given that the Senate Majority Leader has already vehemently declared that a swift acquittal is in the offing for President Trump.  This means that the Democrats will be soaking up whatever spotlight that they can during these public hearings in hopes of exploiting this constitutionally sacred process as some sort of 24/7 anti-Trump campaign ad for 2020.

Rep. Mark Meadows Again Blasts Impeachment ‘Sham’ as Public Hearings Begin

Given just how contentious the proceedings have been so far, it would seem that Meadows has hit the nail on the head.

Published

on

Today is undoubtedly a historic day for the United States of America, as public hearings regarding a possible impeachment of President Trump have begun on Capitol Hill.

This is the very first time that such proceedings have been broadcast into the homes of We The People, further adding to the uniqueness of these events.

Of course, not everyone on Capitol Hill is clamoring for these impeachment hearings to get off the ground, as Republicans continue to decry the process for its previous secrecy, as well as for its cart before the horse logic.

Many Republicans, like House Rep. Mark Meadows, are letting their voices be heard and emphatically denouncing the entire process.

Appearing on “America’s Newsroom” with host Sandra Smith, Meadows said that Democrats want to “make sure that the rules are twisted to their favor.”

“We’re going to see that. We’re going to see their two star witnesses today. Neither one of them [has] ever talked to the president of the United States. And so, it’s interesting how the American people are going to be able to judge this based on secondhand or thirdhand information,” he said.

“As much as my Democratic colleagues will want to push it out, they are not going to be able to present the case to the American people in a compelling way,” he argued.

“When the facts come out, we will find that this is an empty bucket full of lots of innuendos but real no facts that would suggest that impeachment is warranted,” added Meadows.

He would go on…

Meadows argued that if the hearings were about a “fair process” they would have been “handled totally differently” and that House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., has been conducting a “sham process for the last six weeks.”

Given just how contentious the proceedings have been so far, it would seem that Meadows has hit the nail on the head.

John Bolton Drops Wild Accusation Against Trump During Private Speech

We may have just received a small preview of what Bolton’s possible impeachment testimony will look like.

Published

on

There has been a great deal of speculation regarding former national security adviser John Bolton and exactly where he stands in regard to President Trump’s looming impeachment.

Bolton was fired from the White House after numerous rumors emerged intimating that he and President Trump were not seeing eye to eye on foreign policy – particularly in the Middle East.  The long-serving Bolton has long been considered a war hawk of sorts, pushing for military action early and often when situations in the region sour.

Now, with the impeachment scandal singularly focused on the matter involving Ukraine, Bolton’s experiences in the White House are under the proverbial microscope, with a great many in the West Wing wondering just what Bolton will say if or when he testifies.

We may have gotten a small preview during a recent speech he gave.

Former national security adviser John Bolton derided President Donald Trump’s daughter and son-in-law during a private speech last week and suggested his former boss’ approach to U.S. policy on Turkey is motivated by personal or financial interests, several people who were present for the remarks told NBC News.

According to six people who were there, Bolton also questioned the merits of Trump applying his business acumen to foreign policy, saying such issues can’t be approached like the win-or-lose edict that drives real estate deals: When one deal doesn’t work, you move on to the next.

The description was part of a broader portrait Bolton outlined of a president who lacks an understanding of the interconnected nature of relationships in foreign policy and the need for consistency, these people said.

Bolton has not yet been scheduled to testify, with the possibility of a court order to do so still hovering in the ether.

Timing of Joe Biden’s 2014 Ukraine Trip Renews Concerns Over Corruption and Nepotism

The mainstream media can shout “debunked conspiracy theory” until they’re blue in the face, but it won’t change the facts of the situation.

Published

on

There is a very distinct reason why the House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff doesn’t want to preside over a deep dig into the matter of the Bidens’ business in Ukraine; namely, that the disclosure of the facts in the case would completely eviscerate the Democrats’ impeachment narrative.

As of right now, the Democratic angle on impeachment is that President Trump’s insistence on investigating corruption within Ukraine was somehow inappropriate or uncouth, and based on the Commander in Chief’s desire to drum up damaging dirt on Joe Biden ahead of the 2020 election.

For this narrative to be effective, Joe Biden will need to come out of this investigation unscathed and squeaky clean.  Otherwise, the President’s concerns would then be completed warranted, thus eradicating the plausible deniability the the Democrats are hiding behind.

That’s why Adam Schiff has attempted to forbid the GOP from calling Hunter Biden, son of Joe, as a witness in the UkraineGate impeachment inquiry.

In the mainstream media, the canned line about the Joe-Hunter-Ukraine connection being a “debunked conspiracy theory” is just that:  A canned line.  A soundbite meant to detract from the President’s defense.

But here are the facts:

Nepotism?  Check.

Continued use of hard drugs?  Check.

Then, just a month after this meeting…

As we can clearly see, the “debunked conspiracy theory” regarding Hunter Biden riding nepotism into his cushy Burisma gig is anything but debunked, regardless of the mainstream media’s incessant repetition of that talking point.

Furthermore, it would be highly detrimental to the Democrats for this information to become widespread, as it then vindicates the President’s concerns over American political involvement in Ukrainian corruption.

Republicans Sink Their Claws into Impeachment with Plans to Subpoena Hunter Biden

Adam Schiff’s ‘make it up as you go along’ rules could put a kibosh on these plans, however.

Published

on

For much of its infancy, the impeachment of Donald Trump was something that the Republican Party was just not that into, and understandably.  From their prospective, and the perspective of a great deal of the American people, this entire ruse was nothing more than an attempt to reverse the 2016 election simply because the Democrats lost.

Even some of the nation’s most senior leaders are calling shenanigans on the entire process, with Senator Lindsey Graham even going so far as to call it “BS”, and admit that he’s just written the whole thing off as a stunt.

But other Republicans are seeing an opportunity in impeachment – one that would allow them to bring to light the controversy that got this ball rolling in the first place:  Whether or not Vice President Joe Biden’s position in the White House led to his son Hunter’s sweetheart business deals in Ukraine.

House Republicans plan to call Hunter Biden, the Ukraine whistleblower and a range of other witnesses to testify in the upcoming public Trump impeachment hearings, according to a witness list obtained exclusively by Fox News.

It is unclear, at this point, how many of the Republicans’ proposed witnesses will be approved by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and the Democrats, because the newly-approved resolution governing the impeachment inquiry give the approval power to the chairman and the members of the majority.

And that’s not all:

Republicans also plan to call the younger Biden’s former long-time business partner, Devon Archer, who also sat on the board of Burisma. Republicans claim Archer can help the public to understand “the nature and extent of Ukraine’s pervasive corruption information that bears directly on President Trump’s longstanding and deeply-held skepticism of the country.”

Fox News has also learned that Republicans plan to call the whistleblower—whose identity remains anonymous—to testify publicly as part of the inquiry. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., said in September the whistleblower would appear before Congress “very soon,” but in recent weeks has suggested that testimony is unnecessary.

Schiff has also installed rules regarding the witnesses to be brought forth in the case, releasing a number of questions that those on the stand would need to have reasonable knowledge of before being allowed to appear.  These questions have limited the scope of the witnesses to essentially just the July 25th phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky – something that Hunter Biden may not have.

Non-Doctor Anthony Scaramucci Comments on President’s Mental Health

We, again, have an anti-Trump voice pretending to diagnose the President on cable television.

Published

on

As we move ever closer to Donald Trump’s inevitable reelection, the attacks being leveled at him by his political opponents have grown ever more bizarre.

For instance, the left is currently embroiled in an impeachment process that is certain to fail in the Senate.  Their hope is not to actually removed the President from office, since they simply don’t have the votes for it, but instead to conjure up enough negative news coverage regarding Donald Trump to put a dent in his 2020 plans.  This abuse of the process will likely go down in history as one of the most egregious acts of partisan politicking of the modern day.

Outside the walls of the Capitol, however, the insults and insinuations don’t end with impeachment.  Increasingly, we find anti-Trump voices turning to speculative hyperbole to cast doubt on The Donald.

Such is the case with former White House staffer Anthony Scaramucci.

On Friday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time,” former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci discussed a new book by an anonymous administration official that is critical of President Donald Trump’s leadership.

Scaramucci said, “Some of it is hyperbolic, but some of it is also prima facie. Go to the president clippings today on the South Lawn. It’s not stable. It’s not normal. It’s not even inside of a bell curve of what people would describe as real mental health. He’s having a hard time putting sentences together. He’s repeating himself. He’s lost a lot of the sharpness he had in ’15 and ’16.”

For the record, Anthony Scaramucci is neither a psychiatrist nor a psychologist.

The former Trump insider would go on to label the President’s behavior as “incompetent” as well, making certain that there was no doubt about where he stands on the subject.
