50 Years After ‘The Day The Music Died,’ This Boy Finally Met His Long, Lost Father

It has been more than 60 years since the plane carrying rock stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and “The Big Bopper” Richardson crashed.

It has been more than 60 years since the plane carrying rock stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and Jiles Perry “The Big Bopper” Richardson crashed into an Iowa cornfield on Feb. 3, 1959. It was memorialized as “The day the music died,” but the story has been a life-long event that haunted the world of the Big Bopper’s son, a boy who never met his famous father. But that total estrangement ended 50 years after the crash when that meeting finally took place in a strange but beautiful way.

The boy who was born two months after his famous father died in a tragic plane crash on the “Day The Music Died,” saw his father’s face for the first time, fifty years after the fatal day that stole the elder from our world.

How is this, you ask? This all may seem like one of those riddles or some exercise in logic but, no, I assure you it’s quite a true story. And the truth of the matter makes for a fascinating, if unlikely, story.

Jay Perry Richardson was born the same year his father died in a plane accident that was mourned around the world. In fact, Jay was still peacefully floating in his mother’s womb when that fatal day in 1959 came to take the life of his vital and well-known father. Young Jay never laughed with his father, never touched his dad’s face, never learned to ride a bike by his dad’s side and were it not for the heavily thumbed and faded photographs his family all so cherished, young Jay wouldn’t even know what his father looked like.

Trending: Hilarious Fail: CNN’s Ratings CRASH During Coronavirus Pandemic

Unless… unless he looked in the mirror. Yes, that face he wore, he has been told, is the spitting image of his father’s. The thought likely always warmed Jay’s heart.

He may not have known his father in person, but Jay was always fascinated by his father’s legacy and felt close to him despite the distance between them. Jay spent those fifty years of his life studying his father, talking to the many admirers who knew him, writing of him, and traveling the country to keep his father’s memory alive. Even emulating what he knew of the man whose hand he never held, a man with whom he was never able to toss around a football, a man who missed being able to beam with pride at the many successes of a boy he would never know.

Even as the boy who carries his father’s name and face did or not, many people did know Jay’s father. And they loved him. You see, back in his day Jay’s father was a great entertainer in the early days of broadcasting and one of the many innovators who helped popularize Rock-N-Roll. He was a songwriter, a promoter, and entertainer, a man with a big heart and an energetic style. He was only 28 years old when he died, but already he was amassing what he had hoped would become a great music empire.

Jay’s father had written Rock and Country tunes and there was always the radio. Jay’s father loved his work as a radio Dee-Jay. He was well loved for that work, too, as everyone knew his rambunctious voice near his home in Texas. The elder Richardson was even one of the first, perhaps even the first, to imagine the concept of the music video. He even used the term himself in what may be its earliest known usage.

But then came that fatal day in 1959 that all too soon cut short what might have become the career of an innovator we’d all know by name today. Sadly, his name now is not on the tip of everyone’s tongue, though his nickname might be more familiar to music buffs everywhere.

That was over half a century ago. Since then, young Jay, son of this tragic figure, spent his life only dreaming of catching a mere glimpse of the man he so yearned to know. To Jay, it may have seemed like his father was more a dream than a real person. But Jay learned his father’s music, discovered a treasure trove of tunes written but never finished, and then played them for enthusiastic fans. And Jay soldiered on lo these 50 some years trying to keep the memory of his father alive.

And it has been a fruitful effort, though perhaps not as successful as young Jay would want. Still, the folks of Beaumont, Texas were appreciative of the father’s legacy and the son’s work. Back in 2009 they even asked son Jay if they might raise a monument in his father’s honor to further celebrate his memory?

However, there was a problem. The cemetery where his father and mother were interred told the family they had rules against large monuments. Jay decided to exhume his father to rebury him somewhere else so the monument might be built.

But there was one other thing that might be done during this exhumation. It seems that in the five decades since the elder’s death, some crazy conspiracy theories had been spun about how the man really died. So, Jay also hired a forensics expert to reassert the cause of death to dispel all those crazy rumors swirling about his father’s death for so many years.

So, in due course the casket was raised and then the time came to open the aging box… and Jay was there. He was a bit afraid of how he might react. Would he be disgusted, afraid, happy, sad? He was told to prepare for little else but clumps of moldy clothing and dry bones. So, not knowing how he’d react, Jay girded himself for the opening of the casket. But as that creaky lid was pried open there lay Jay’s father looking much as he did in life, almost perfectly preserved through the embalmer’s art.

On nearly the fiftieth anniversary of his father’s death, here was Jay Richardson finally getting to see his father. Amazingly, for the first time in his 50 years of life, the admiring son got to gaze upon the actual face of his famous father. Imagine this amazing opportunity? A man who spent his entire life chasing a father he was never able to even look at one time was at long last able to catch a glimpse of the face of the man he so longed to know. It was a singular wish finally fulfilled by a series of crazy circumstances and nothing else. Just luck. And Jay was gratified.

Now, we all remember the line written about the fatal plane crash that took from us Jay’s father along with two of his musician friends: “I can’t remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride. Something touched me deep inside, the day the music died.”

After a 50 year wait, the boy finally met his father, Jiles Perry Richardson, nicknamed “The Big Bopper,” killed on that fateful day, February 3, 1959 as the plane in which he was a passenger fell to the earth in a binding snowstorm taking with it the lives of rock-n-roll legends Jiles “The Big Bopper” Richardson, Buddy Holly and Ritchie Valens.

It was just a plane crash, simply put. Jay’s father, “The Big Bopper,” was killed instantly on impact, as the official story 50 years ago presumed. It may have been but a plane crash, but it indeed was the day the music died.

Rest in Peace:

Jiles Perry “The Big Bopper” Richardson, Jr. (October 24, 1930 – February 3, 1959)

Charles Hardin Holley, known professionally as Buddy Holly (September 7, 1936 – February 3, 1959)

Richard Steven Valenzuela, known professionally as Ritchie Valens (May 13, 1941 – February 3, 1959)

Abhorrent ‘Comedienne’ Kathy Griffin Faked Coronavirus Infection to Attack Trump

Last week so-called comedienne Kathy Griffin took to social media to cry that Trump gave her the coronavirus but now we know she lied.

Published

on

Last week so-called comedienne Kathy Griffin took to social media to cry that Trump gave her the coronavirus and even claimed she is suffering “unbearably painful” symptoms in a hospital. Now we know she lied about it just to score political points.

Last Wednesday, Griffin posted a photo of herself wearing a respirator and lying in a hospital bed. She went on to whine that evil orange man is killing her.

“I was sent to the #COVID19 isolation ward room in a major hospital ER from a separate urgent care facility after showing UNBEARABLY PAINFUL symptoms. The hospital couldn’t test me for #coronavirus because of CDC (Pence task force) restrictions,” she tweeted.

Clearly Griffin was trying to get sympathy for suffering from coronavirus… though it ended up being more like she is suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome… again.

It turns out that she was not suffering from the coronavirus at all.

The TRUTH is that she had an abdominal infection, not the coronavirus.

HuffPo reported the facts after Griffin’s tweet:

Griffin said she recently returned from a Mexican vacation and experienced intense abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and a cough. She said she was eventually directed to the emergency room at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and placed in its coronavirus isolation ward.

An x-ray revealed her lungs were clear and a scan revealed she had an abdominal infection, Griffin said. A doctor still wanted to administer a test for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, because some of her symptoms fit the illness, according to the comedian. But, she said, the doctor said she couldn’t because of guidelines issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

So, once again we see a distempered, lying, Hollywood liberal warping the truth to use as a weapon to beat up Donald Trump.

But this time she got caught.

Disney’s ‘Onward’ Banned in Middle East over Reference to a Lesbian Relationship

Disney’s new animated film, ‘Onward,’ has been banned in several Middle Eastern countries over a lesbian scene.

Published

on

Disney’s new animated film, Onward, has been banned in several Middle Eastern countries due to the film’s reference to a lesbian relationship.

The film features a pair of elfin brothers who go on a road trip in a quest to find magic, but in one scene the heroes meet a character that makes a passing reference to a lesbian relationship between two minor characters, Deadline reported.

In the scene that offended Muslim censors, the lead characters, voiced by Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, are speaking to a pair of female police officers, and one of them, voiced by Lena Waithe, casually mentions that her girlfriend’s daughter “got me pulling my hair out.”

The officer, named Specter, has been hailed as Disney’s first openly homosexual animated character.

Indeed, the actress picked to voice the character is herself openly gay.

“It just kind of happened,” the film’s producer, Kori Rae said attempting to belie the idea that the character was planned. “The scene, when we wrote it, was kind of fitting, and it opens up the world a little bit, and that’s what we wanted.”

The scene has brought condemnation from a group of Muslim countries including, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. But not all countries in the region have banned the film. Bahrain, Lebanon, and Egypt, for instance, have agreed to book the film.

Another country, Russia, has agreed to show the film, but only if the word “girlfriend” is overdubbed with the word “partner.”

Onward debuted in the U.S.A. on March5.

Sony Wants Next Spider-Man to be Bisexual and with a Boyfriend

Sony Pictures says it intends to pander to wokness and wants to portray their next Spider-Man as a bisexual superhero with a boyfriend.

Published

Sony Pictures says it intends to pander to wokness and wants to portray their next Spider-Man as a bisexual superhero with a boyfriend, according to a report.

Sony wants to break new woke ground with the next Spider-Man by remaking the character in one of the most woke manners possible.

According to the website “We Got This Covered,” Sony Pictures is “is developing a live-action ‘Spider-Verse’ movie” that would “unite Holland with his predecessors, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.”

The report added that the studio “is particularly keen on getting Garfield back, as they want to portray his version of the hero as bisexual and give him a boyfriend in the film.”

Garfield starred as Spider-Man in 2012 and 2014 before Tom Holland signed on to portray the webslinger.

Sony appears to be finally taking Garfield’s advice to float a gay spidey. Garfield made the call as far back as 2013.

“Of course, this is something that Garfield would be very keen to do, as the actor said way back in 2013 that he thinks Spider-Man could be portrayed as gay,” the site reported. “Not to mention it would also gel with where we last saw his character. You’ll recall that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ended with the death of Gwen Stacey. Obviously, Peter Parker usually moves on with Mary Jane Watson. But why not give him a male partner instead?”

Superhero films seem set to be going LGBTQ all over this place with this next wave of comic book films.

Marvel Comics universe chief, Kevin Feige, already noted that he is adding several gay characters in the next wave of Marvel superhero films.

In fact, he told a comic book audience that one of the films now in production will have a transgender character.

I guess we’ll have to see if the phrase “go woke, go broke” applies to comic book movies.

Hey Hollywood, America Doesn’t Care: Oscars Hits Worst Ratings in History

The Academy Awards TV broadcast known as “The Oscars” earned the worst TV ratings in Hollywood history.

Published

on

The Academy Awards TV broadcast known as “The Oscars” earned the worst TV ratings in Hollywood history last weekend, proving that Americans just don’t care about Hollywood celebrities anymore.

On Sunday, the broadcast announced that Renée Zellweger won the best actress award, Joaquin Phoenix won in the men’s category, and South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho won both best picture and best director. But the show got fewer eyeballs than ever for this big finish.

According to the Associated Press, the Oscars only earned 23.6 million viewers. That is down 20 percent over last year’s previous low of 26.5 million.

This year’s numbers are off more than ten million viewers, down from previous norms of 35 to 45 million viewers usually seen in the first decade of this century. Even as recently as 2015, the Oscars won 37.3 million viewers.

But it appears that the years of wild-eyed, left-wing lunacy pouring out of the pieholes of the Hollywood elite have caused more Americans than ever to tune out of the doings of Hollywood’s elite.

Just for instance, as Joaquin Phoenix took his award for best actor for the film, The Joker, he went into a barely sentient ramble about how cows are sentient beings whose milk and babies we evil humans steal for our morning coffee and cereal… or … or something.

Phoenix also rambled about speciesism and global warming. Meanwhile, after berating all mankind over climate change, Phoenix was seen parading around Hollywood in limos and carrying plastic water bottles.

Like the rest of Hollywood, it is “do as I say, not as I do.”

Earlier in the broadcast, the directors and producers of the documentary, American Factory, spouted quotes from the Communist Manifesto as they accepted their award. They literally quoted a book that formed the central tenets of the movement responsible for the deaths of over 100 MILLION human beings.

And as these Hollywood hypocrites spout off about the “oppressed” and “the poor” for whom they pretend to be advocates, they all left the Oscars show with gift bags worth more than $225,000!

It wasn’t just last night’s lunacy, either.

Recently Star Wars and Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford tore down the U.S.A. while he was on a junket to Mexico. He also praised Swedish child activist Greta Thunberg for her “bravery” on climate change.

Meanwhile, as Ford tells us all that we have to begin living like it is the 6th century to “save the earth,” he is flying in private jets and even owns a fleet of expensive, fossil fuel-guzzling airplanes of his own!

Americans are sick and tired of these liars and play actors pretending to be our betters.

Obama Praises His Oscar Film Producer Who Quoted Communist Manifesto

Barack and Michelle Obama miraculously won an Oscar Sunday, and Obama just loved it when the directors quoted the Communist Manifesto.

Published

on

The first documentary supposedly produced by Barack and Michelle Obama miraculously won an Oscar Sunday, and Obama just loved it when its directors quoted the Communist Manifesto during their acceptance speech.

First of all, this documentary, American Factory, was a film no one really saw. Made for Netflix, the film was an anti-capitalist look at America’s work force. But all this thing needed was to be connected to the Obamas — whose company helped produce the flick — to miraculously “win” an Oscar.

Shocking, huh?

But it got more absurd when a bald-headed Julia Reichert stepped to the podium to begin spouting lines from the Communist Manifesto.

“Working people have it harder and harder these days – and we believe that things will get better when workers of the world unite,” this communist said from the stage.

“Workers of the world unite” is a direct quote from the Communist Manifesto, a document at the center of the deaths of a hundred million human beings.

Naturally, Commie Obama was thrilled to praise his underlings.

“Congrats to Julia and Steven, the filmmakers behind American Factory, for telling such a complex, moving story about the very human consequences of wrenching economic change,” Obama tweeted. “Glad to see two talented and downright good people take home the Oscar for Higher Ground’s first release.”

Others were less thrilled with the communist ex-president and his Marxist underlings:

Oscars Slammed for Rejecting Graphic Ad of Woman’s Postpartum Bathroom Issues

The Oscars and ABC were slammed by women’s activists for rejecting a graphic ad featuring a new mother dealing with postpartum issues.

Published

on

The Motion Picture Academy and ABC television were slammed by women’s rights activists for rejecting a graphic ad featuring a new mother dealing with postpartum issues in the bathroom.

Frida Mom, a company that caters to mothers of newborns, reported that the Academy rejected its ad that portrays the challenges a woman faces in the days after childbirth. The ad centers on the physical hurdles of using a toilet and the difficulty of using hygiene products during that time.

“It’s not ‘violent, political’ or sexual in nature. Our ad is not ‘religious or lewd’ and does not portray ‘guns or ammunition,'” the company wrote on its Instagram page. “‘Feminine hygiene & hemorrhoid relief’ are also banned subjects.”

“It’s just a new mom, home with her baby and her new body for the first time. And we wonder why new moms feel unprepared,” the company concluded.

Frida Mom also noted that the Academy said that the ad did not comport with its rules on graphic content. The company said its ad was deemed “too graphic with partial nudity and product demonstration.”

The ad opens with a baby crying and waking a mother in the dead of night. The woman is then seen sitting on the toilet and struggling to deal with mesh surgical briefs, multiple protective pads, sprays, and other hygiene products. The ad, though, does show the woman using these products in explicit terms.
The spot ends with the slogan, “Postpartum recovery doesn’t have to be this hard.”

Actress and talk show host Busy Philipps slammed the Academy for rejecting the ad, saying that it is a problem when society doesn’t even “flinch” over erectile dysfunction ads but would reject an ad about the real-life struggles new mothers experience.

“Partially because this is clearly an ad made by women who have been there and get it and partially because I DO believe so strongly that the more we can NORMALIZE A WOMAN’S BODILY EXPERIENCE IN MEDIA, the better off our culture and society will be,” Philipps wrote on her Instagram account.

Philipps also accused American society of denying the humanity of women.

After praising the Frida Mom ad, Philipps added: “And I’m so f—ing sick of living in a society where the act of simply BEING A WOMAN is rejected by the gatekeepers of media. Well. Shame on them and NOT on us for simply being human women.”

This is an ad for new post partum products for women-this ad was rejected from ABC(see the repost below from the brand) I legit teared up when I just watched it. Partially because this is clearly an ad made by women who have been there and get it and partially because I DO believe so strongly that the more we can NORMALIZE A WOMAN'S BODILY EXPERIENCE IN MEDIA, the better off our culture and society will be. AND YES THAT MEANS ADS TOO. You probably don't even flinch when an Erectile Disfunction ad comes on but THIS AD IS REJECTED?! I think this is an incredible piece of advertising that accurately represents something millions of women know intimately. And I'm so fucking sick of living in a society where the act of simply BEING A WOMAN is rejected by the gatekeepers of media. Well. Shame on them and NOT on us for simply being human women. While in Mexico Star Wars Actor Harrison Ford Calls U.S.A. ‘Immoral’

While in Mexico on a trip for a new Disney movie, Star Wars actor Harrison Ford Called the U.S.A. an ‘immoral’ country.

Published

on

While in Mexico on a trip for a new Disney movie, Star Wars actor Harrison Ford Called the U.S.A. an “immoral” country.

Ford was in Mexico City last week to promote his next film, The Call of the Wild, and during his comments to the foreign reporters, the Indiana Jones star began trashing Donald Trump and the United States.

Ford slammed the U.S. saying, “[America’s] position in the world is tenuous because of our lack of moral leadership, basically.”

The extreme, anti-American leftist actor also rambled on about how wonderful teenaged climate scold Greta Thunberg is.

“I certainly applaud Greta… her activism, her role in representing the interests of young people, and I admire her courage, her fortitude, and also admire her capacity to express herself,” Ford said.

“Science is being ridiculed by people in ideological campgrounds,” the aging Hollywood millionaire continued. “They are refusing the wisdom, the discipline of science, in favor of a political point of view. And that has to stop. And I believe young people throughout the world know that it has to stop and are capable and willing to make the sacrifices to make that happen.”

He also said, “I applaud Greta’s part in the leadership of young people, and I consider the threat to the natural world as the single biggest threat to humanity.”

Of course, Ford is a huge hypocrite.

He claims to care about the climate, yet he not only flies all over the world on private jets, he even has his own fleet of fossil fuel-burning planes.
